alton - Cute Mutt For Adoption

They call him Mr. Happy! Dalton is a canine ray of sunshine! This very sweet and gentle boy is a Boxer/Pitbull/?? mix (a.k.a. an adorable MUTT) with a heart of gold. He is always smiling and happy about life. He LOVES children and gets along well with other dogs, too.

Dalton - cute mutt for adoption 2

Dalton is just 5. He’s a big boy at about 75 pounds, but he is a real pussycat. One of his favorite things is getting his belly scratched. He is also a big fan of chasing the ball – whether you throw it for him – or he does it himself. Imagine… a self-fetching dog!

Dalton is a very sensitive and caring boy. He is very devoted to the people in his midst, and seems to consider it his duty to keep everyone happy and smiling. He’s a bit of a clown.

Dalton’s owner asked his former neighbor from Jacksonville; now residing in the Savannah area; to foster Dalton while his family worked out their housing situation. Month’s later Dalton’s owner informed the foster mom that his job is moving him to Texas and he will not be able to take Dalton. They have asked her to try and find him the loving home he deserves, and she has enlisted the help of Find My Pet A Home.

Dalton is a doggie diplomat – he gets along with everyone. He is great with dogs, cats, kids, seniors, strangers and friends. He would make a wonderful emotional support dog for someone with depression, anxiety or other mental health concerns.

Ideally, Dalton would very much love to be the beloved family dog in a home with kids to adore him, and whom he can love right back. His former family had a small child, and Dalton really misses her! Dalton would love a securely fenced yard to play ball in, and a family with lots of time to spend with him. He wants to be your focus – not an afterthought. He would also like a family that is reasonably active. He enjoys staying fit with a good daily walk – a great motivator for everyone in the family to stay fit.

Please offer this wonderdog the loving home he needs and deserves. This is a dog that will wag and smile his way into your heart and home. He’s very special!

Dalton’s Personality

Loving, loyal, sensitive, friendly, he’s just an all around happy dog

Dalton’s Current Home Environment

Dalton and his family were my neighbors when we lived in Jacksonville so he is real good friends with his foster siblings, a Great Dane named Angus and a Basset Hound/Lab mix named Molly.  They get along well but sometimes they spat just like human siblings. It’s just the dogs and me. We live in a Townhouse condo community that was not focused around being dog friendly when it was built so there aren’t any off leash play areas. I don’t have a yard like they need so they don’t have room to run and play. The only real exercise the dogs they get is when I walk them 2 or 3 times a day or I take them out late at night and let them wrestle off leash for about a half hour.

Dalton’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

He has a sensitive tummy so he doesn’t get people food, except cheese. He LOVES cheese! Because of his sensitive tummy I have to be careful what doggie snack I give him too.
He loves balls. He’ll chase a ball all day, or play by himself with it.

Why is Dalton Being Rehomed?

I’m a retired, disabled veteran and I have two other dogs, a Great Dane and a Basset Hound/Lab mix.  I agreed to foster Dalton on a temporary basis (that was 7 months ago).  His owner has since asked me to find him a home because his family can’t take him when they move. He was basically dumped on me. Having three dogs puts a strain on me financially and physically.

Dalton’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

A nice family that will provide a forever home. Hopefully a family with a child. Dalton had a little girl in his last family and I can tell he misses her.

Additional Comments:

Dalton was adopted from a shelter a couple years ago. In Oct 2015 his owner and finance broke up and moved apart so he asked if I could foster Dalton for a couple months so he could get his living arrangements straightened out. I took him in and have had him since. In March I was informed that by Dalton’s owner that they were moving to Texas in June and asked if I could keep Dalton until then. In April I was told that they could not take Dalton and asked if I could find a home for him.
