Hi, My name is Athena!

Amazing dogs like me don’t come along for adoption very often! I am such a pretty, sweet, intelligent and well-behaved girl. I am a gorgeous mix of American Terrier and American Pitbull Terrier. I have a lovely short and smooth coat and the most unique brown and white markings.

I have a smile that can melt any heart, and a happy, upbeat personality that can turn any frown upside-down.

I am very healthy and weigh 60 pounds. I am up to date on my vaccinations, but will need to be spayed. My veterinary records will be provided to my new owners.

I LOVE people! Hanging on your every word is my favorite activity after chasing the ball and swimming.  I am very playful and have the amazing abilty to play with and entertain myself. I don’t have a lot of experience with other dogs, but we did recently have a playdate with a Jack Russell Terrier – which went great!

I also do not have a lot of experience with small children, but I absolutely adore my owner’s daughter, whom I met when she was 15.  We spent 5 wonderful years playing together!

My family love me so much. When they adopted me, they expected to be my forever family. Unfortunately, circumstances have changed for them. Their landlord has decided to sell our home, and they have no option other than to move into a residence where dogs like me are not allowed. They have tried their very best to find a home that will allow me, but no luck.

Now we are in a real jam as we need to find me a loving home right away! My owners are dearly hoping to find a loving home for me where I will be cherished as much as I am now. I would love to have people who can spend time with me and to whom I can show my very special kind of devotion.

I would love a securely fenced yard to play in, some older kids to play with, and a family who will commit to offering me a forever home.

I would also be a great choice as your new best friend if you are a single or couple – just so long as you have time to give me the kindness, love, attention and exercise I need and very much deserve.

Athena’s Personality

She is so loving. She gives hugs and loves to be petted. She is so playful and can entertain herself with chew toys for hours. She does well in her kennel when we leave for work and sleeps soundly in her bed when she is not playing and throughout the night. She is potty training and has never had an accident inside the house or in her kennel.

Athena’s Current Home Environment

We live in a two bedroom duplex with a small backyard.

Athena’s Current Family:

Two person house hold. Our daughter was 15 when Athena joined our family and Athena loved our daughter as she loved her sister. Our daughter moved out 2 years ago and Athena has been alone with just my husband and I. We’ve had a family members Jack Russell Terrier come visit a few times and they played together well. Other than that Athena has not been socialized with other dogs very much. She gets along well with other people.

Athena’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Chew toys, dog bones, pig ears, doggie biscuits and loves chewing on sticks, branches, etc. She sleeps, bounces around outside, loves going for walks, she eats regular purina dog food.

Cute Athena Story:

Athena loves to be outside on grass. Anytime we are camping, she immediately drops to her stomach and slides across the grass over and over. She also loves the water (not the water hose). As soon as she sees water she will immediately jump in if she can. She will swim and swim until we’ve had to go out and grab her because she refuses to come in. When we call for her to come out, she will pretend to come back to us but then turn around and swim away. She would stay in the water forever if we’d let her.

Why is Athena Being Rehomed?

We have lived in our duplex for just over five years. In fact we got Athena just after we moved in. Our landlord has decided to sell the property. We received just over 30 days notice to vacate. We have looked and looked for a rental that will take her but we have had no luck. We are now down to just over a week and since we could not find anything that would allow us to keep her, we are now having to move into a place that we can afford on such short notice but will not accept Athena.

Athena’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Someone who will love her and treat with respect and kindness. She is so fun loving and would love it if the person who takes her will have time to devote to her as their best friend.
