Tuxedo tabby cat for adoption in kenmore waHi, My name is Ernie!

Do you have trust issues? Me too! I am a really sweet little cat, but it takes time for me to adjust to new people and surroundings. I am looking for that special someone who will take me into their heart and home and love me unconditionally. Once you earn my trust, I am such a sweet little girl. I am very affectionate and have a way of making my owner feel very special.

I am 10 years young and very healthy. I have been spayed and am up to date on my shots. I am perfectly litter trained and well behaved. I live with my family in Kenmore, WA, north of Seattle.

Ernie, along with her sister cat Emjay, is being rehomed by her owners, who are heartbroken to have to make this very difficult decision. Unfortunately their two small children have been diagnosed with severe cat allergies.

The family is hoping to find a very loving home for Emjay and Irwin – ideally together, but they can also be adopted separately.

The ideal home will be a family with older children, adults or a single with lots of time to spend with these very loving, people-oriented cats.

All supplies will be included – food, dishes, litter boxes and treats. All you have to add is lots of love and a safe, happy environment for these precious pussycats.

If you would like to meet Ernie and Emjay, please fill out our online information form and the owners will call you to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet.

Personality

Erwin (Ernie) tends to be very shy and takes some time and effort to warm up to people. When we first got her I spent a lot of time coaching and coaxing her to relax around me, and it eventually paid off. Once she gets comfortable with you as “her person” she is very affectionate. She will hide if anyone new comes into the house. She is tolerant of our small children, as in willing to be in a common space with them, but does not allow them to touch her. She will run away from them if they try (she has never scratched). She is very set in her routine for eating and will “beg” as soon as you get out of bed, and again around dinner time (she is pretty good about letting me sleep as long as I want, but as soon as I step foot out of bed in the morning she is ready to eat).

Reason For Rehoming

We have two small children, who unfortunately appear to have cat allergies. We made an effort to keep the cats in our home and keep things very clean and hair free to minimize impact on our children, however with the two kids to keep up with it has been too hard to also keep up with the cat hair and keep the allergies under control. We are so sad to have to move our kitties, but we can’t continue to have our children suffer from allergy effects.
