All About Jason

Boxer-lab-mix-for-adoption-near-seattle-2

Jason is an absolutely AMAZING dog! This super smart boy is a lovely mix of Boxer and Labrador Retriever. He weighs around 70 pounds, but still considers himself to be a lap dog. 🙂 He is such a gentleman! Jason gets along well with everybody. He loves little kids, big kids, adults, seniors and all pets, too. Jason has never met a person or animal that he didn’t love.

Jason lives in Mukilteo, WA, about 20 minutes north of Seattle, and within an hours drive of Victoria, BC, Canada.

Jason is very devoted. He really loves his people and wants to be with them at all times. His life has recently been turned upside down when his original owner (in the US Navy) was deployed, and he was shipped up to his current foster family in Washington. As much as his foster family love Jason, their busy schedule leaves little time for him. Coping with a new home and missing his original owner has taken a toll on Jason’s peace of mind. He has developed separation anxiety, and really needs to be in a home with people who are around him a lot of the time and who he can devote himself to.

Jason is, and always has been, house broken. Because of his recent anxiety, he has had some accidents in the apartment in which he lives. His foster owners consulted with a dog behaviorist, who feels that the very best situation for Jason will be to go to a home with folks who are home most of the time. He would be the perfect companion for a retired couple who have a house with a securely fenced back yard. He would LOVE some great kids or grandkids to play with.

Jason will need someone with lots of patience to help him feel confident and to help him overcome his recent potty issues. He is well worth the effort!

If you have room in your heart and home for the perfect family dog, please get in touch using our request to meet a pet form at http://petrehoming.net/adopt-a-pet/. Once we receive your information, we will ask Jason’s foster owners to get in touch and arrange a mutually convenient time to meet.

Jason’s Current Home Environment

3 bedroom apartment. We have no children and most of the time it is only me at home. So we have a quiet household. Not much running around.

Jason’s Current Family:

My husband is in the US Navy, & I’m an EMT. We adopted Jason from a friend who also serves in the navy on Oct 25. We have a really quiet household with only two humans. We do not have any cats.

Jason’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

His favorite toys are his tug of war rope, tennis balls,& his squirrels in a tree.
Favorite foods are bacon strips, Pet Botanics training treats, & raw hide but he will eat anything. He loves being outdoors. He loves long walks, and LOVES the dog parks.

Cute Jason Story:

Hes a really sweet dog. Very patient and tolerant of people cuddles, hugs and kisses. He loves to sleep next to you and sit on you if possible. He loves other dogs. Hes incredibly submissive.

Why is Jason Being Rehomed?

Jason has separation anxiety. We adopted him on Oct 25, 2016 and he had no accidents in the house for the first three weeks. Then about 3 or 4 weeks ago, he started urinating and defecating on our carpet when I would leave. Before we adopted him, his previous owner had not had a single accident in the last 4 years with him. Jason was able to be left alone in the house for up to 12 hours with no incidents. He was shipped up to us via ground transport and I have hired behaviorist who say that the move and transition was a little too hard on him.

Jason’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

I am looking for a loving, patient family or person who will accept him and his mistakes and work with him. I am looking for a family who love the outdoors and will let him run and play as often as possible. Jason is not an outdoor dog. He needs to be inside with his new family. My biggest concern is finding a dedicated family to love him and be patient.
