ADOPTED – ROCKET – Devoted Pomeranian – Chihuahua Mix Baltimore MD

Rocket has found his forever family! More details coming soon!

Hi, My name is Rocket (Rocky)!

Rocket - chihuahua mix adoption baltimore md 2Rocket is a little dog that works very hard to let his owner know just how much he loves him. This 13 pound bundle of love and licks is a Pomeranian / Chihuahua mix. He is just 5 years old and is very healthy. Rocket has been fixed, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and house trained. He is great with other dogs, and gets along fine with children old enough to respect dogs and their instinctive boundaries.

Rocket’s owner loves him so very much. Sadly, after his relationship ended, he was left caring for Rocket, but working long hours, leaving very little time to spend with Rocket. Rocket does not like to be left alone at all, and really needs to be in a home with another dog to keep him company when owners are away – and with people who have a lot more time to spend with him.

His ideal situation would be as a 24/7 companion to someone elderly or in need of an emotional support dog.

This sweet, smart, energetic little dog is a clown, a great companion, and true friend. He would be ideal as an emotional support pet, seniors companion or family pet.

Please offer Rocket the loving home he needs and very much deserves today. He can’t wait to meet you and charm his way into your heart and home.

Rocket (Rocky)’s Personality

– energetic; acts like a puppy
– loving; always ready to curl up next or on you
– small; easy to control,
– his unique/funny habits (“burying his large treats indoors”, his “pet me position” where he rolls to his back and waits for petting, outside after going bathroom he scratches the ground with his rear legs)
– he’s always there for/loves his owner. good to have him during rough time, though didn’t always make situations easy… though if a thief came it, he’d bark for a minute then “ask” for petting.

Rocket (Rocky)’s Current Home Environment

bottom floor, 2 bedroom apartment, fairly quiet neighborhood.

Rocket (Rocky)’s Current Family:

single male in 20’s. adopted Rocket while in a relationship, but it fell apart and he stayed with me. I’ve done my best to train him, and have made a lot of progress. It’s been stressful for Rocket though. I can’t be home all the time, but it’s only me.

Rocket (Rocky)’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

squeaky toys, treat balls, chew toys.
iams small breed adult dog food
sit with human friends, getting petting, or snuggling. will engage with owner in general playfulness; does not do fetch.

Cute Rocket (Rocky) Story:

Sometime early on, I got a big bone/treat for Rocket. He was happy to get the treat, but also saw he seemed confused by it or his size. I turned my back for a few minutes and here comes Rocket without the treat. Wondered what he did with it, believe found it in a corner of a room.

Anyways, I gave it to him again and he trots off with it. I’m following him this time… long story short, he’s doing his version of burying the bone/treat! He’ll scratch at the ground, gently put the treat in a tight or small space, then use his nose as if to cover the treat again! Hilarious! Does that every now and then if treat is big enough.

Why is Rocket (Rocky) Being Rehomed?

his separation anxiety; he needs a home where someone will be there all the time or who have time to work with him to cope. he’ll be happier that way.

Rocket (Rocky)’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

home with a large/busy household to keep him busy and happy and maybe tire him out.

Additional Comments:

I’d love to see him from time to time, as long as in a good home.
