Rocket has a loving new home with Ruth and her husband! It was love at first sight for both Rocket and his new owners, and they are excited to spend forever together. Rocket will have a team of grandchildren to play with him, and Ruth and her hubby to keep him company all day – every day. What a lucky dog. Congratulations, Rocket!

Here is how our team presented Rocket to attract his wonderful new family:

Hi, My name is Rocket!

Img_0035

I am a Tan/White color, short-haired Male Whippet/Chihuahua Mix Dog. I am 3 years and weigh 25 lbs. I live in San Diego, CA.

I have been described as sheer joy on 4 legs! I am a sweet bundle of devotion. Smart, eager to please, very handsome and fun to be around. I love to snuggle, and enjoy playing, too! I am very enthusiastic and a great role model for the people in my home. I am always excited and eager to meet new people and have new experiences.

I have been fostered by a wonderful lady for the past several months. She took me in when my original owner could no longer care for me. She is hoping to find me a loving home where I will be cherished.

Here’s what she loves the most about me:

1) Rocket is well-mannered
2) He is always eager to give affection
3) He listens well
4) He has great energy
5) He is adaptable to new environments

Here’s what I am looking for in a new home:

  • Someone who will be able to spend time with me. I am OK by myself during the day while you are at work, but please come home and snuggle and play with me after work and take me places on weekends.
  • Someone who will treat me with the love, respect and care I need and deserve.
  • Someone who will give me some exercise. I am a Whippet, after all!
  • Someone who will love me unconditionally.
  • Someone who will give me good nutrition, adequate exercise and play, and regular veterinary care.

Please offer me a home today. I am a great little guy and can’t wait to mesmerize you with my deep brown eyes!

Rocket’s Current Home Environment

It’s a pretty quiet home. I work a full-time job, so the dog is home all day without supervision. When I am home, he likes to cuddle, take naps, and play fetch. He really loves seeing new people and dogs and gets excited with visitors.

Rocket’s Current Family:

I am single and live alone. The dog has had interactions with children before and is well-mannered with children.

Rocket’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Rocket loves to play with animal squeaky toys, balls, and most importantly, he tends to keep a treasured stuffed toy at a time. He likes to carry his stuffed toy everywhere in his mouth. He cuddles it, he plays with it, and he sleeps with it until it gets worn out and he gets a new stuffed toy!

Why is Rocket Being Rehomed?

I rescued Rocket from someone that couldn’t take care of him with the understanding that I would provide a safe, loving home until I could find a permanent home for him.

Rocket’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

I would like to see Rocket in a home in which he has a safe, warm, healthy environment, with people that love him, play with him, and hold him. He has been exposed to children, but not a lot, so he may enjoy the energy of a youthful friend. He is well-mannered with children, so I’d like to see that if there is a child in the home that the child and Rocket get along well and become best friends.

Additional Comments:

I would like to stay in contact for a while in order to ensure a positive, happy transition for Rocket into his new family. He is a very adaptive dog, but I think a transition period will ease a potentially stressful event in his life.
