Meet Digit, Chihuahua Mix Dog For Adoption in Sun Valley NV

Anyone familiar with the Chihuahua breed knows just how enchanting and special these little lap dogs are. Digit, a 20 pound 7 year old Chihuahua mix, is no exception. Well behaved, devoted and affectionate, Digit is a cuddle bunny who loves to play with cats, sleep in bed with you, and take long naps in the sunshine. He is very healthy, fixed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and house trained.

Digit will be the perfect match for a single or couple without children or other dogs. He is best suited to living in an apartment, and would do well as a companion for senior or retired dog lovers.

Digit is very timid when it comes to other dogs and children. When he feels he is in danger, he responds by barking and nipping, like many other Chihuahuas. Currently he is in the wrong situation – a home with small children and other dogs. He is very fearful of children, and when provoked will nip.

Digit’s owners love him very much and want the best for him. They realize that he is not happy in their home, and conversely, their baby is at risk of being bitten. The very best scenario will be to find Digit the quiet, child-free home he needs and very much deserves.

If you have room in your heart, home (and lap) for this cute little 20 pound bundle of love and licks, please offer Digit his forever home today.

There is a $50 adoption processing fee. All supplies and veterinary records will be included.

Digit’s Personality

Digit always takes a good amount of time to warm to new people. He will hide behind your legs at the dog park and basically stick to you like velcro when on a walk or in public. Once he warms up to you he just wants to cuddle and play fetch.

He likes to retreat to his own crate when challenged, but loves to sleep by your feet under the covers. Most of the day for him is spent sleeping – doesn’t really get up or want to play until around 4 pm.

He was much happier living in an apartment than a house as he is a wimp to anything dirty and sticks to the cement. Well trained to use the pee pad, sit, wait, roll over.

However, if he is shown any aggression (or at least what he thinks is aggressive) he will respond aggressively with barking, growling and nipping – he’s mostly just scared. He will mostly run away from other dogs and let them push him around.

His best friend was a cat that he loved to play and nap with – great with cats and lets them boss him around. He is great on long off leash hikes and never wanders away.

He is honestly a great pet for someone without small children. He is great for those who just want a companion to chill with every night and occasionally throw his ball. Great in apartments or limited outdoor space.

Why is Digit Being Rehomed?

Has started to show aggression towards baby unprovoked. Has bitten other family members if backed into a corner. Training has not made a difference and we no longer feel our baby is safe in the same home.

Digit is very fearful of our baby. Babies make lots of strange noises, smell funny, and are unpredictable from the viewpoint of a Chihuahua. We feel that as our baby gets more mobile, this situation will become worse. For our baby’s sake and for Digit’s, we need to find him the right home where there are no children or dogs. He would be best suited for someone who is not overly social.

He is crate trained, and can easily be in his crate if company comes over to his new owners home. Although this behavior is not ideal, this little guy has a lot of love to offer the right dog lover in the right situation.
