Grey tabby cat for adoption redlands ca 2

Looking for the best cat in Redlands, CA? Look no further – Thomas is here! This extremely sweet cat is so handsome! He has the most unique tabby coat- grey with tan stripes. He’s just 7 years old and very healthy. He is extremely polite, loves to cuddle and is also very well behaved.

Thomas has been neutered, is up to date on his shots, and perfectly healthy.

Thomas has been the cherished companion of a single university student. She loves him so much and appreciates his sweet personality, funny antics, amazing good looks and quiet devotion. She is now working on her PhD, and must move closer to the university, where it is very difficult to find accommodations that allow pets – or a place big enough to house him comfortably.

She is dearly hoping to find another single or couple who would welcome this precious boy into their heart and home. Thomas is not used to being around other cats, dogs or small children. He can be shy with strangers, but is very affectionate and sweet once he is comfortable with you.

Thomas will be rehomed with all of his supplies. Please offer this sweet and very unique cat the loving home he deserves. If you would like to meet Thomas, please fill out our online information form. Once received, Thomas owner will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet.

Thomas’s Personality

Gentle: Thomas is surprisingly careful with his claws and is respectful of my personal property. He’s never been destructive.
Sweet: He loves attention and can be a bit of a ham.
Athletic: He is lean and surprisingly strong for a cat of his size.
Handsome: He has bright, intelligent eyes and a good looking color/coat combination. He always looks very stately to me.
Low-maintenance: Thomas doesn’t seem to need many luxuries and seems happy with even the most basic of toys/equipment/etc. I’ve tried buying fancier cat supplies (like special wet food) but he always gravitates to the simple joys of life like blankets and cuddles.

Thomas’s Current Home Environment

I live alone in a quiet residential apartment complex. Thomas generally hangs around on the couch, in the back bedroom, or the the floor. He doesn’t mind it when I am doing household chores like dishes and seems generally unfettered even by the vacuum. If I have company over, Thomas will usually run and hide if it is more than one person. He is becoming braver, though, and will come say hi more often than not after his initial exodus.

Thomas’s Current Family:

It is just me with no other family members. I am his “single mom”.

Thomas’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

He loves to hang out around the apartment complex and sleep in the flower beds. He is a Nature lover, come rain or shine, and he really loves being outside. I tried keeping him inside as a purely indoor kitty for about a month when I first met him. However, he seemed to just get sadder and sadder. He became a much happier kitty when I allowed him to go outside again. His favorite activities seem to be just watching over the neighborhood mixed with the occasional cuddling for humans. Currently he is an indoor/outdoor cat.

Cute Thomas Story:

When I first met Thomas, I thought that he must be starving, so I started putting food and water out for him. However, to my surprise, I found that he would often ignore the food! Sometimes the bowl would remain untouched apart from a nibble or two. It was really surprising, and it took me a few days to realize that what he was hungry for wasn’t food or water, but instead, attention! Once I figured it out, I would start sitting outside and he would approach. So my first few memories of him were us two sitting on the steps up to my apartment, him on my lap drooling and totally blissed out. It turns out that Thomas was hungry for attention, not for food. 🙂

Why is Thomas Being Rehomed?

I’m a 30 year old PhD student who can’t afford to stay in her current neighborhood anymore. I need to move due to financial reasons and also because I need to spend more time focusing on academics. My plan is to move closer to campus and to downsize from an apartment to a small room. I don’t really want to part with Thomas and I’ve grown quite attached to him, but I don’t see how it would be possible to keep him after I move. I want to rehome him because he deserves an owner or family that give him the love and care that he deserves. Taking him to the pound or shelter is not an option. Likewise, friends and family have all been unable to take him for various reasons. He is a great cat and really deserves a needs home, especially after having spent so many years alone and on the streets.

Thomas’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

I think a quiet home, perhaps belonging to a retired couple would be great. Since Thomas loves Nature and the outside so much, a backyard would be an extra great bonus. My main concern is that he doesn’t get along with other cats well due to his past homelessness. If he had an outdoor cat-free space to enjoy the flowers, I think he’d love that. Other than that, so long as he can be in a household with loving attention-givers, he should be happy.
