Riley’s Personality
Riley is a loving, silly, quirky girl! This high energy and happy girl loves to run and play with you! When she is not playing, Riley will always want to be with you, cuddle up next to or on top of you, find a comfy spot to lay, and lounge in the sun. She loves laying belly up with all 4 paws in the air or sploot style. Riley will always be looking for pets, scratches, hugs, and kisses from you! She is a little love bug with her people.
Riley started her life by being thrown out of a car and left on the side of the road. After seeing this happen, we brought her home with the intention of fostering her. The more time we spent with Riley, the more we loved her silly, loving, and quirky personality. Due to Riley’s traumatizing experiences as a puppy, she developed anxiety when in unfamiliar situations. She also does not do well with other pets so it would be best if she is the only animal in the home.
Given Riley’s tough beginning, she can get anxious in new or unfamiliar settings. With patience, compassion, and understanding for her tendencies help her to calm and feel safe.
Riley’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Riley loves working to get treats out of her Kong! She likes chewing and breaking up sticks (but does not eat them). She loves running and playing with you and her toys. She also likes mentally stimulating games (getting treats out of a puzzle). She loves playing hide and go seek to try to find you or hidden treats. Riley loves to be active, but will happily take a nap in a comfy spot or cuddled up with you.

Riley had a devastating and sad start to her life. She was thrown of the car like a piece of trash on the side of a busy road in a non-residential area. When we found her, she was covered in feces, had lots of sores from bugs bites, and was fearful.
This scared and traumatized puppy was thrilled to be brought into a home where she was cared for and loved. While it took her some time to warm up, she was soon doing all that she could to show us the love and appreciation she had for rescuing her.
Giving Riley a second chance at life has been so rewarding, but because our circumstances have changed, we are desperate to find someone who will be committed to continue that love, attention, and training for her. Riley truly is a people loving, excited, and funny girl who wants affection, love, care, and play time.
Despite her anxiety and excitement, Riley makes a great companion for someone who understands what she went through and will dedicate time to continuing to love she so desperately wants and deserves.

When Riley is ready to relax or nap, you will often find her laying belly up with her legs straight up in the air and tail wagging. She also loves laying in the “sploot position”. She will keep you laughing and bring you joy to see her silly and cuddly side to her personality. Why is Riley Being Rehomed?
We need to rehome Riley as we just welcomed a baby into our home. While Riley is gentle with the baby when he is being held by us, due to her size, strength, and style of play, she is not a suitable dog for an increasingly mobile baby, who will be crawling and having floor time as baby develops.
We have always known that we would need to rehome Riley when we had a baby, but we have kept her as long as possible as we love her very much!
This has been an incredibly hard decision and we truly are devastated to be in this situation, but we ultimately know we have to do what is best for our growing family while also working to find Riley an adopter that will love her as much as we do. We would love very much to remain a part of her life and keep in touch with her new owners when the time comes.
Riley’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
We are looking for an adoptive family who understands the trauma that Riley has experienced and how it has impacted her life since then.
It would be best for Riley to be in a home with older or no children. She also needs to be the only pet in the home. Riley would love a fenced in yard to run and play to burn off her energy.
Riley would be a great companion for someone who is willing to continue to give time and effort to her needs and understands the tendencies of her breed. Riley would also do best in a more rural setting where she is not often running into other dogs, which scare her.
While we would love to know that Riley is loved and cared for through pictures or periodic updates, we also understand that this may not always be possible. Knowing that Riley is in a safe and loving home is incredibly important to us and we’d love to know that she continues to be safe and cared for in her new home.
