Ginger once knew what it meant to have a home and a family. Sadly, when her former family moved away, they left her behind outdoors.
For any house cat, suddenly finding herself homeless would be frightening. For Ginger, it is particularly dangerous: she has been declawed on her front paws and has very limited ability to defend herself outside.
Thankfully, a kindhearted Good Samaritan named Debi noticed Ginger, realized how vulnerable she was, and decided she couldn’t simply look the other way.
Now we’re going to help Debi give this beautiful little cat the second chance she deserves.
Meet Ginger – A Little Cat Who Never Stopped Loving People
Ginger is a 6-year-old female orange and white tabby cat seeking a loving, permanent indoor-only home in or near Smyrna and Atlanta, Georgia.
And if Ginger could choose her new family’s most important qualification, we suspect it would be very simple:

Ginger is extraordinarily affectionate. She loves being held, loves curling up with people, and seems happiest when she’s receiving attention from someone she trusts.
What’s particularly remarkable is that everything Ginger has experienced appears to have done very little to diminish her affection for people.
She had a family. She lost everything. And somehow, Ginger never stopped loving people.
She’s sweet, patient and gentle. She welcomes new people. She’s reportedly good with children, cats and dogs. She’s litter trained and doesn’t need an elaborate assortment of toys or constant entertainment to be happy.
Give Ginger a soft basket for a good nap and, even better, a warm lap and someone who wants to cuddle her, and this little girl is in heaven.

After finding her outside, Debi took Ginger to the veterinarian to make sure she was healthy and to get her veterinary care up to date.
For many cats, a veterinary appointment involving examinations, vaccinations, blood draws and ear cleaning would be grounds for filing a formal complaint with management.
Not Ginger.
She purred through it.
Ginger was apparently so delighted by all the attention that even the needles and ear cleaning couldn’t dampen her enthusiasm. The veterinary staff fell in love with her.
It’s hard to imagine a better demonstration of this little cat’s temperament.
Ginger Needs a Safe Indoor Home
Ginger is currently being cared for as an outdoor stray, but she absolutely should not remain outdoors.
Ginger was previously an indoor family cat and has been declawed on her front paws. Without her front claws, she is particularly vulnerable to dogs, wildlife, other cats and the many other dangers an outdoor cat can encounter.
Debi would happily give Ginger a permanent home herself, but her husband has serious cat allergies. She is doing everything she can to help Ginger in the meantime, but what this little girl truly needs is a family of her own and a front door that closes safely behind her.

After everything she’s been through, Ginger isn’t asking for much.
She just wants to belong again.

Why Does Ginger Need a New Home?

Ginger had apparently been an indoor family cat before her former family moved away and left her behind. Despite being front declawed, she was left to fend for herself outdoors.
Debi recognized that Ginger was vulnerable and began helping her. She recently took Ginger to the veterinarian, where she received vaccinations, blood work and other needed care. Debi reports that Ginger is now healthy and ready for a permanent home.
Unfortunately, a serious allergy in Debi’s household means she cannot bring Ginger permanently into her own family.
