Meet Gunner – Pre-Loved Labrador Retriever dog For Adoption by Owner in Edmonton AB

Gunner is a Male Labrador Retriever dog for adoption to a very loving home in or near Edmonton, AB. This very special dog is 8 months old and weighs 65 pounds.

Gunner’s owners are very sad to have to rehome their cherished dog, but circumstances beyond their control have made rehoming a must-do:

Gunner’s owners are hoping to find the right home for their cherished dog. The perfect home for Gunner would be a young and active lifestyle. A house with teenagers would be a great fit.

Gunner needs a home where he’s the main focus, with a large yard for him to romp and play in. A home with many people to snuggle and play fetch with him would be perfect.

Still quite young, Gunner has so much potential. A true Lab, Gunner is affectionate and thrives with lots of positive attention. Gunner is playful and goofy as he is still growing into his body. In his new home, he will need a consistent routine, with consistent training. Like most Labs, Gunner should settle down quite a bit by age 2. Gunner would love to live with an active family who can take him on lots of walks or runs, so grab your running shoes!

If you have room in your heart and home for this deserving Labrador Retriever dog, then please offer Gunner his forever home today. Gunner can’t wait to show you the true meaning of unconditional love. Adopt this Labrador Retriever dog today.

We recently adopted Gunner, previously known as Luca, from the Humane Society when he was 7 months old. We’ve had him for over a month and have found that he is too much for us to handle and his lack of training is un-training the dog we’ve had before Gunner.

Gunner knows his name, but has very selective hearing. While he is very food motivated, he has proven difficult for us to train. The Humane Society had only taught him the command sit, we’ve tried our best to teach him “Lie down”, “Stay”, “Come”, “Get down”, “Bed”, “In your house,” etc and while he does listen 60% of the time, the other 40% is extremely difficult and it becomes a battle between us and him.

Gunner was a stray before going to the Humane Society, and there are definitely stray behaviours that are still present. He honestly just requires someone who has more time and patience, which we have found we don’t have enough of either.

Gunner’s Personality

Gunner is a very sweet boy. He’s a gentle giant and loves cuddles and attention. He loves to curl up with you in bed or on the couch and if he’s not close enough to you he will army crawl his way to you until he’s close enough by his standards.

His favourite way to lay is on his back to ensure he gets tummy rubs. He’s a very head strong pup who loves to play and run around – a yard is a must, as are long walks. He does well with other dogs as long as he is introduced on his own terms.

He’s surprisingly well-mannered despite being a stray before coming to us. He’s a very curious boy and will follow you to every room you go to in your house. As previously mentioned he is a gentle giant – you can stick your hand in his mouth and he will not bite, you can remove his bowl from him mid-meal and he will not show any aggression.

He’s extremely kind, he just needs more active attention than we can provide him.

Gunner is an Amazing Companion Because Of:

His gentle curious eyes. His head tilt to show you he’s listening. His floppy gait as he runs. His love of kisses. His love of cuddles.

Gunner’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

He loves running, loves balls and toys he can chew. He loves long walks and playing with other dogs.

Cute Gunner Story:

Why is Gunner Being Rehomed?

Gunner needs more attention than we can provide him. He’s a high energy pet – while we are a low energy home. Unfortunately, the two haven’t mixed well and we feel bad for not having the time or energy to fully focus on him and his needs. It’s been overwhelming for us to have a young pup in our home again after having had out other dog for over 4 years already and the guilt of not fully having the energy to handle him is getting to us. He needs a good and high energy home. We’re not the right fit for him, and we don’t just want him to go back to the Humane Society. We want to do right by him and find him a really good home.

Gunner’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

The perfect home for Gunner would be a young and active lifestyle. I could see a house with teenagers being a great fit. A home where he’s the main focus with no other pets would probably be the best for him. A home with a large yard for him to burn off his energy. A home with many people to snuggle and play fetch with him.
