1

Give Us an Overview

Tell us about yourself, your dog or cat, and why you need to find your pet a new home. You’ll also upload one photo and create a password for your private Pet Rehoming Network account. When you press Save & Continue, we’ll save your preliminary request and create your secure client area — your personal “Rehoming Headquarters.”

As your project moves forward, this is where you’ll be able to add more photos, complete your pet’s information, communicate with your rehoming team, receive messages from interested pet lovers and review adoption applications that have passed our screening process.

2

Choose Your Next Step

Once your preliminary request has been saved, you can continue the process online right away or request an optional one-time intake phone consultation with Debbie Moore, our founder and Rehoming Counselor.

Many pet owners feel more confident and positive about rehoming after speaking with Debbie. Since 2015, she has helped hundreds of pet owners through the rehoming process, providing sound advice, a safe and effective process, and an empathetic shoulder to lean on when stress, grief, guilt and worry come with the territory.

The intake consultation also gives Debbie a chance to learn about the little things that make your pet special — personality, endearing quirks, favourite things and routines — as well as anything a prospective adopter should honestly know. Just as importantly, we want to understand the kind of person, family and home you believe will be right for your pet.

The phone consultation is entirely optional and is offered once during the intake stage. If you prefer, you can complete your intake online and communicate with us by email and through your private account.

3

Complete Your Pet’s Details & Choose Your Service

When you’re ready to proceed — either after your optional intake consultation or immediately if you prefer to continue online — you’ll complete the remaining information about your pet, add additional photos, choose the level of rehoming service you require and submit payment.

When you return later, you can access your secure account through the Pet Rehoming Network Client Portal. Once your intake and payment are complete, your rehoming team will be notified and we’ll begin creating your pet’s adoption campaign.

4

We Tell Your Pet’s Story & Promote Them

We use the information and photos you provide to create a warm, compelling, SEO-optimized adoption profile that paints a genuine picture of what makes your pet special and why the right person or family should consider adopting them.

From your pet’s adoption story to targeted social media posts, scroll-stopping graphics, printable adoption flyers and ongoing networking with local pet professionals such as veterinarians and pet sitters, we work to get your pet in front of pet lovers in your area. This is not a one-off effort. We continue spreading the word while we work toward finding the type of home you want and your pet deserves.

5

You Choose the Right Home — With Our Guidance

As inquiries and adoption applications come in, you respond to questions and promptly review the applications we send to you. We review and screen prospective adopters, verify key information and look for concerns that could make a home unsuitable for your pet.

When an applicant appears promising, you decide whether you’d like to speak with them. A friendly conversation gives both sides the opportunity to ask questions and, if things feel right, arrange a meet and greet. You remain in control of the decision throughout the process. We provide guidance, screening support, introductions and advice; you choose the person or family you believe is right for your pet.

6

A Safe & Gentle Transition Into the New Home

Once you and the adopter have decided to proceed, you’ll arrange a day to bring your pet — along with any belongings, food, records or familiar items you’ll be providing — to the new home whenever distance and circumstances allow.

Spending some time with your pet in the new environment can make the transition gentler and gives you an opportunity to see the home for yourself, answer last-minute questions and share useful details such as feeding routines, walking schedules, favourite activities and veterinary information. Seeing your pet begin to settle in can also provide valuable reassurance and peace of mind at the end of an emotional process.

Once your pet has been safely introduced into their new home, let your rehoming team know so that we can update the project and help with any final transition details.

Talk With Debbie About Your Pet

If you’d like to talk before completing your full intake and submitting payment, you can request an optional one-time intake phone consultation with Deborah (Debbie) Moore, Founder and Senior Pet Rehoming Coordinator at Pet Rehoming Network.

Debbie will answer your initial questions, learn more about your situation and make sure we understand what matters most to you in finding the right new home for your cherished companion. She can also provide compassionate emotional support and reassurance as you navigate what can be a very difficult decision. Since 2015, Debbie has helped hundreds of pet owners through this heartbreaking but sometimes necessary process.

The intake consultation is also your opportunity to tell Debbie about the little things that make your pet so special — their personality, endearing quirks, favourite things and routines — and the kind of person or family you feel would be a wonderful fit.

The intake phone consultation is entirely optional and is offered once during the intake stage. If you’d rather continue online and communicate by email and through your private account, we’re happy to work with you that way. Many pet owners who do choose to speak with Debbie tell us they feel calmer, less guilty and more positive about their pet’s future afterward.

Milo — Havanese Dog Rehomed in Raleigh, North Carolina

Your organization exceeded my expectations! We had to rehome our precious Havanese named Milo. I did not know where to start. Deborah was great and very helpful from the start of the process. To make a long story short Milo was rehomed less than a week from the time his pictures were posted across social media. I could not have done it without the help from this organization. Pet Rehoming Request FAQs

Does my pet stay with me during the rehoming process?

Yes. Pet Rehoming Network uses an owner-assisted rehoming process. Your pet remains safely in your care while we help you search for and evaluate prospective adopters.

Do I get to choose who adopts my pet?

Absolutely. You know your pet best. You communicate with prospective adopters and decide whether a person or family is the right fit. We provide guidance and screening support, but the final decision remains yours.

Is Pet Rehoming Network a shelter or rescue?

No. Pet Rehoming Network is a private pet rehoming service that assists dog and cat owners in finding suitable new homes for their pets. Your dog or cat stays with you while a suitable new home is sought. We do not take physical custody of pets or operate a shelter.

Do I have to pay when I start my request?

No. There is no payment required to submit your preliminary request and create your private account. You can continue your intake online, request an optional one-time intake phone consultation, and review our services and fees before deciding whether you wish to proceed. Payment is made before paid rehoming services begin and is non-refundable once services have commenced.

What if my pet has bitten someone or has aggression concerns?

Please be completely honest about any bite history, aggression or other safety concerns when telling us why you need to rehome your pet and when completing the full intake. A disclosure does not automatically mean that we cannot help. Requests involving significant safety concerns are reviewed by our Rehoming Coordinator before paid services begin so that we can understand the circumstances and determine whether our service is appropriate.

Do I have to speak with someone by phone?

No. An optional one-time intake phone consultation with Debbie Moore is available during the intake stage if you would find it helpful, but it is not required. You can continue the process online and communicate with us by email and through your private account instead.

Am I committed to using the service when I start a request?

No. Starting a request gives us enough information to understand your situation and creates your private client account. You can continue your intake, request an optional one-time consultation, review our services and fees, and decide how you would like to proceed — if at all — before submitting payment.

Can you take my pet immediately in an emergency?

No. Pet Rehoming Network is not a shelter or rescue and cannot accept physical surrender or provide emergency housing. Our service is designed for owners who can keep their pet safely with them while a suitable new home is found.
