Has had a couple of flares (usually with the change of weather in the winter) where his skin gets very dry and irritated and he scratches until bleeding. Has resolved each time with a small dose of cortisone.
♥ Behavior Issues:  He is a high energy breed, and he can become overstimulated in situations with other dogs/children. In this state, he has become aggressive towards the other dogs, and someone was bitten trying to get in between. He recently nipped a child in his home over a toy,

He is a grazer-we usually put down 1 cup of food in the morning and 1 in the evening and he just eats when convenient for him. We have fed him Beneful incredibites for the past 8 years.

Bama’s Personality

Bama is a sweet, energetic and very loving dog. He is an intense little guy, and if he becomes overstimulated, it can be difficult for him to reign it in.  It is best for him to be in a loving environment with dog lovers who can provide him with a strong routine where he gets adequate exercise and play, and lots of love and cuddles.

He is house-trained, very rarely has accidents. He is extremely patient with our children (they will hug him, lay on him, pull at his leg and he has no response).

He is due for a well check and vaccine updates, but will be getting that done before the end of the month. At that time he will be completely up to date with his vaccines.

Why is Bama Being Rehomed?

Bama can become easily overstimulated when there are lots of people and pets around him. As he has gotten older, he has had a hard time settling down when people come over to stay, or if there is a lot of activity with other pets around him. He has recently become aggressive towards another dog in the home, and the owners small child was nipped as a result.  It has since become clear that Bama needs a home better suited to his stage in life and his personality.

Bama’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

A home with retired or senior dog lovers. Bama needs a quiet home with a strong routine where he won’t become overstimulated.  He is an active and energetic dog, but as he has gotten older, being overstimulated has resulted in aggression towards other dogs.

In a home where he knows what to expect most days, where he gets a reasonable amount and intensity of playtime and excercise, and lots of love and daily cuddles, he will shine. He is an incredibly sweet and affectionate little fellow.
