Meet Lux, German Shepherd Labrador Retriever Mix Dog ADOPTED in Louisville KY

Lux is a very handsome German Shepherd Labrador Retriever mix dog looking for a loving home in a rural setting near Louisville Kentucky.

He can be adopted by dog lovers located anywhere within a reasonable distance of Louisville, including, but not limited to Chattanooga, Memphis, Knoxville, Indianapolis, Missouri, Kentucky and Georgia. Our goal is to find him the very best home, so please reach out, even if you are not in the immediate Louisville area.

Lux is very healthy, up to date on shots, fixed, micro-chipped, house trained and ready to love. Lux is just 5 years old and weighs 70 pounds. He has a short, black and tan coat.

Lux is a very devoted, affectionate and considerate companion. He is very polite and has been obedience trained. He knows several commands and is eager to learn.

Lux needs a home in a rural setting. He would do very well with one or two adults who have a strong routine and spend a lot of time at home. A ranch or acreage would be ideal. Lux would do well with older, respectful children (pre-teens and up). Lux is very good at making you feel appreciated and protected.

This intelligent, devoted, loving, loyal companion and protector will add  so much love and joy to your home. He would be a great choice for active seniors or someone living alone looking for a special dog for companionship. Lux’s owners love him very much. Lux’s Personality

Lux is a very loyal, smart, and protective dog. He is wary of strangers at first, but soon warms up and comes looking for tummy rubs. Because he is so smart and tuned in to his environment,  Lux does not know what to make of small children. He thinks they move funny, smell funny and are very unpredictable. This frightens him, and makes him anxious. He prefers predictability.

Lux loves to run, chase squirrels and rabbits, and get exercise. He is obedience trained and can sit, lay, place, come, and stay. Lux is healthy, handsome, and wants tons of love. He is a big baby.

Lux would do very well in a rural home with some land, where he could run and get exercise. He would be so happy and relaxed, without the constant stress of small children and the noise and activity of the city.

Lux takes his role of family protector very seriously. In his current home, he seems to be constantly on guard,  as if every noise or unscheduled visit is a threat. In a peaceful setting with a loving new owner who understands his breed(s), he will thrive, and his many special qualities will shine through.

Why is Lux Being Rehomed?

As mentioned above, Lux’s demeanor is not ideal for a city home with small children.

We are expecting another child, and constantly making sure that two children don’t tug at him or spook him will be difficult with them all in the same space.

We’ve moved to Louisville and bought a home since having our daughter. With all the change in lifestyle, Lux has gotten less exercise (although he has a backyard to run and play in, but he used to run miles on open land) and also is in the home more often. We want our sweet dog to have a happy life and feel he would be much more content and relaxed in a country setting.
