Meet Maya, Boxer Terrier Mix Dog For Adoption in Chemainus BC

Looking for a Boxer Mix dog for adoption on Vancouver Islandf? When you look at this sweet, sensitive 5 year old dog, it’s hard to imagine that someone could be so mean as to throw rocks at her. Sadly, it’s true. Maya has had quite a few traumas over her short, 5 years of living. She was attacked by 3 dogs at once while in a kennel, and it’s certain she has been through other traumas.

She has had a home as an “outdoors dog” with an elderly gentleman in Chemainus who is now having to go into care.

Maya absolutely adores Adults. We feel that this lovely girl deserves to become someone’s best friend, companion and protector. She’s a little on the plump side right now, but she should shed this weight once she has the incentive to play and be active with her forever guardian. She is going to require a very patient owner to help her gain confidence and conquer her fears of children and other dogs.

It is not known how she would be with cats. She would be best suited to a home where she can be the only pet. Ideally in a rural setting with someone who has a securely fenced yard. It would be great to have her transition to being an “indoors” dog, particularly when winter comes along.

Maya’s Personality

At this point, Maya is an outdoor dog that requires a larger fenced yard and shelter. She is a very sweet, lovable dog but has been abused in her past so she has difficulty trusting until she gets to know you.

Maya doesn’t like sudden movement or sounds as she scares easily. Her 2nd owner is quiet ill so Maya will not go into the home as I believe she senses his issues. With time, trust, patients, training and love Maya will be a great companion again.

Maya is over weight and has not been walked for about a year. She would need some leash training again as she pulls.
