Are You A Shelter Or Rescue?

No. Pet Rehoming Network is not a shelter or rescue, and we do not accept pet surrenders or take physical custody of pets.

Your pet remains in your care while we help you create a professional adoption profile, promote your pet, evaluate potential adopters, and navigate the rehoming process.

Do You Guarantee That My Pet Will Find A Home?

No ethical pet rehoming service can guarantee placement.

Every pet and situation is different. Factors such as your pet’s age, breed, health, behavior, location, time of year, and the type of home needed can all affect how long the process takes.

What we do provide is professional adoption marketing, screening tools, guidance, resources, and support to help give your pet the best possible opportunity to find a safe and loving home.

How Long Does It Take To Rehome A Pet?

Every situation is different.

Some pets receive interest quickly, while others may take longer depending on age, breed, health, behavior, location, timing, and the type of home required.

Our goal is always to help you attract and evaluate the most suitable adopter for your pet. Finding the right home can take time, especially when a pet has special needs, medical issues, behavioral concerns, or must be placed in a very specific type of home.

Can You Help With Urgent Rehoming Situations?

If you are facing an urgent situation such as illness, relocation, housing challenges, financial hardship, military deployment, family changes, or other circumstances beyond your control, please contact us as soon as possible.

While we cannot guarantee immediate placement and cannot physically accept pets, we may be able to provide guidance, resources, referral options, adoption marketing assistance, and accelerated support.

If your pet must be placed within hours or only a few days, local rescue organizations, foster programs, breed-specific rescues, or emergency boarding options may be better suited to help with the immediate crisis.

Where Does My Pet Stay During Rehoming?

In most cases, your pet stays with you until a suitable new home is found.

This is usually the least stressful option for your pet and allows you to remain involved in choosing the right adopter.

If your situation makes it impossible to keep your pet with you during the process, we recommend first asking trusted friends, family members, or local contacts whether they can provide temporary care. In highly urgent cases, local rescues, foster programs, or boarding facilities may also be options to explore.

Can I Use Your Service If I Find An Adopter Myself?

Yes. Even if you find a potential adopter through Adopt-a-Pet, Facebook, a local classified ad, a rescue referral, a friend, family member, or another source, we are happy to help you evaluate the inquiry.

We can help you review the adoption application, identify possible red flags, suggest questions to ask, and think through whether the person may be a good match for your pet.

Can I Use The Adoption Profile On Other Websites?

Yes. The adoption profile we create for your pet may be used on other platforms such as Adopt-a-Pet, local classified websites, Facebook groups, breed-specific communities, rescue referral pages, and social media.

We can also provide guidance on where to post your pet’s profile to help increase visibility.

Do I Get To Use Your Adoption Application Form?

Yes. Clients receive use of our online adoption application form.

This form helps gather important information from prospective adopters, including pet ownership experience, household details, current pets, lifestyle, housing situation, veterinary references, personal references, and expectations for your pet.

Do You Provide An Adoption Agreement?

Yes. Clients receive access to our adoption agreement template.

This agreement helps establish clear expectations between the pet’s current owner and adopter regarding care, veterinary needs, transfer of ownership, special medical or behavioral considerations, and the future welfare of the pet.

What Is Your Refund Policy?

Pet Rehoming Network operates on a prepaid basis.

Payment is required when you submit your pet rehoming request. Once your request, information, photos, and payment have been received, we begin work on your pet’s rehoming project.

Because work begins promptly and significant time and resources are invested into each case, fees are non-refundable.

Our fees are for professional services, guidance, profile creation, marketing assistance, screening tools, adoption resources, and ongoing support. They are not based on a guaranteed placement outcome.

Can I Rehome Two Pets Together?

Yes, bonded pets can often be rehomed together.

However, placing two pets together can take longer because the pool of suitable adopters may be smaller.

If your pets are truly bonded and would suffer emotional distress if separated, we will help present them as a pair. If they are not strongly bonded, we may discuss whether separate placements could give each pet the best chance of finding the right home.

Do You Rehome Senior Pets?

Yes. We have helped many senior dogs and cats find loving new homes.

Senior pets can be wonderful companions, especially for adopters who prefer a calmer, more settled pet. Some adopters specifically seek senior pets because they are past the puppy or kitten stage and may be a better fit for a quieter home.

Do You Rehome Pets With Health Or Behavior Issues?

We may be able to help pets with health or behavior issues, depending on the situation.

It is very important that you are completely honest about your pet’s medical history, temperament, training, behavior, and any concerns that may affect placement.

Some pets with medical or behavioral needs can do very well in the right home. Others may require rescue support, professional training, veterinary care, or a very specific adopter.

Honesty helps protect your pet, the adopter, and everyone involved in the transition.

Do You Place Pets With Senior Citizens?

Yes, when appropriate.

Many senior adopters provide wonderful homes, especially for pets that need companionship, routine, and a quieter environment.

As with any adoption, the owner should consider whether the adopter has the ability, support system, and long-term plan needed to care for the pet responsibly.

Is A Home Visit Required?

We recommend that pet owners carefully evaluate the prospective adopter’s home and environment before finalizing an adoption.

In many cases, the current owner is the best person to determine whether the home feels safe, appropriate, and comfortable for their pet.

We can provide guidance on what to look for, what questions to ask, and how to approach the meet-and-greet or home visit process.

What If The Adoption Does Not Work Out?

Even with careful screening, there are rare situations where an adoption may not work out.

This is one reason we encourage clear communication, careful applicant evaluation, a thoughtful transition plan, and use of an adoption agreement.

If problems arise after placement, you are welcome to reach out for guidance and support.

I Am Struggling Emotionally With Rehoming My Pet. Can You Help?

Yes. We understand how painful this decision can be.

Many pet owners experience sadness, guilt, fear, grief, uncertainty, and second-guessing when faced with rehoming a beloved companion.

We are here to listen, offer reassurance, answer questions, and support you throughout the process.

Responsibly finding a safe, loving new home for your pet is not failure. In many situations, it is one of the most loving and selfless decisions a pet owner can make.

Can I Reach Out After My Pet Has Been Placed?

Yes. Our support does not necessarily end after placement.

If you need reassurance, guidance, or someone to listen after your pet has been rehomed, you are welcome to reach out.

Many owners find that once their pet is safe, loved, and settling into a wonderful new home, much of the fear and uncertainty they felt at the beginning is replaced by relief and peace of mind.
