German Shorthaired Pointer Adoption Plano Texas 5

German shorthaired pointer gsp adoption little elm txHave you been looking for a German Shorthaired Pointer for adoption near Plano? Peyton is a dog you should most definitely consider. This 4 year old male GSP mix dog weighs 65 pounds.

Peyton is in excellent health and has been neutered, fully vaccinated and house broken. He is good with other dogs, but has not had any experience around cats. There is no reason to think that he would not be very accepting of feline friends as well.

Peyton adores children and is an amazing companion. He is so smart and very affectionate. He wants to please you so much. Sometimes he gets a bit too excited and will jump up, but that is instantly correctible using the “down” or “off” command.

Peyton is not getting enough exercise, companionship or playtime, and this has led to some  counter surfing. Just like all of us, Peyton turns to food when he is bored. Peyton loves to swim, so it would be great if his new family has a pool.

Peyton is being placed for adoption by owner for the following reason:

Peyton deserves a family/individual that will exercise and challenge him more. He’s a pointer mix and is best when he has some type of job or activity that will tire him out.

In my current and future situation, Peyton doesn’t receive enough exercise or activity so he’s then presented with opportunities to become curious and determined enough to get into trouble.

Peyton’s owner, Daleena

Peyton’s Current Home Environment

I’m currently staying with family as I just moved to Texas a few months back. We’re currently in a house with 3 adults, 2 other dogs (Peyton’s brother and my sisters dog) and my 10 year old niece.

Prior to living here, I lived in a house in Colorado where Peyton and his brother had a large yard to run around in and a doggy door to come and go as they please.

Peyton’s Current Family:

My family consists of me (35 yo female), Peyton and Peytons brother (4 yo hound mix). I adopted Peyton when he was 12 weeks old and his brother a year and a half later.

Peyton’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Peyton loves most treats to include peanut butter and bananas (together or separate), cheeseburgers, anything bacon flavored and anything that he can chew on for a long time. He is a super chewer so goes through most treats quickly.

When given bully sticks, he sometimes swallows them whole so not a great treat for him. He enjoys kongs with frozen peanut butter in them. For activities, Peyton enjoys running and wrestling with his brother, doggy day care and anything that makes him think.

He also loves, loves, loves to swim. We often hide treats from him and have him sniff them out and hide and seek with the humans. He’s also great on his leash although he does enjoy frequent stops.

Cute Peyton Story:

Peyton currently sleeps in bed with my 10 year old niece every night. One night, we walked upstairs and he went towards her room but I didn’t let him because he was wet and stinky from the rain that day.

Peyton begrudgingly came to bed with me but the next morning he was waiting at her door first thing and when she went off to school, he spent most of the day in her room waiting for her. He wanted so badly to sleep with her that he thought if he just stayed there, I couldn’t force him out.

Why is Peyton Being Rehomed?

Peyton deserves a family/individual that will exercise and challenge him more. He’s a pointer mix and is best when he has some type of job or activity that will tire him out. In my current and future situation, Peyton doesn’t receive enough exercise or activity so he’s then presented with opportunities to become curious and determined enough to get into trouble.

Peyton’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

I’m looking for someone that lives an active life and wants a companion to take along on some adventures. He would also do well with someone that lives on a lot of land/farm that will be able to give Peyton the attention and physical and mental stimulation he needs.

He would do well with a home with kids as he loves to cuddle and play. Peyton also needs an owner that will be a strong and consistent leader. He’s a strong willed and determined pup that needs someone that will ensure he’s not getting into trouble.

Additional Comments:

Peyton is so loving, loyal and intelligent. I’m struggling greatly with the idea of rehoming him but I know that it’s the best thing for him. I just want him to be happy, healthy and able to enjoy life as much as possible.
