💕 Chu Chu’s Story: The Loyal Protector with the “Frog-Butt” Smile
If loyalty had a face, it would look like Chu Chu’s — big soulful eyes, a broad grin, and just the slightest bit of drool when she’s happy (which is, honestly, most of the time). Chu Chu isn’t just an American Bulldog — she’s a one-dog security system, therapist, and best friend wrapped in a soft, snuggly, 85-pound package of love.

At first glance, she’s a little intimidating — all muscle, confidence, and that “don’t-mess-with-my-human” swagger. But give her a few minutes (and maybe a back scratch or two), and she’ll melt into you like butter on toast. She loves nothing more than curling up beside her person, preferably under the covers, head on a pillow like the world’s most affectionate roommate. Her mornings begin with a stretch, a yawn, and a nudge that says, “Hey, I’m ready for breakfast… and also, you’re my favorite person in the world.”
Chu Chu’s love language? Quality time and back scratches. She’ll plop down in front of you, look at you over her shoulder, and wait — silently but insistently — until you get the hint. Once you do, you’ve earned her trademark happy grunt, that deep bulldog rumble that sounds suspiciously like satisfaction.
Her silly side could fill a sitcom. Ask anyone who’s witnessed her legendary “frog-butt” move — a sight to behold when she grabs her favorite rope toy, goes completely limp, and lets herself be dragged around the room in blissful abandon. It’s pure Chu Chu: fearless, ridiculous, and full of joy.
But beneath all that goofiness is a dog with a heart as big as her bark. Chu Chu takes her role as guardian seriously. She’ll always let you know when someone’s at the door — not because she’s unfriendly, but because she loves her people fiercely and wants them safe. She’s a true companion for someone who values that devotion — a single woman, a couple, or a family with older kids who want a best friend and a little extra peace of mind.
Life has thrown Chu Chu’s person a curveball. Her owner has to relocate for work, moving to a place where big dogs like Chu Chu just aren’t allowed. It’s a decision made with heartbreak, not hesitation — because loving a dog sometimes means letting them find the life they deserve, even when it hurts.
Chu Chu would do best as the only pet in the home (she prefers to keep all that love to herself), and while she can be reactive around other animals, her loyalty and affection toward her people more than make up for it. She’s house-trained, well-mannered, and happiest when she can snuggle, stroll for short walks, and just be with you.
So if you’ve been wishing for a dog who’s equal parts bodyguard and best friend — who will make you laugh, protect you fiercely, and warm your heart every single day — Chu Chu is waiting.

Chu Chu’s Personality
Chu Chu is a wonderful dog when she is the only pet. She gets a few bouts of playfulness a day and really loves to be dragged around by her rope. She enjoys walks and does best if they are only about 15 to 20 minutes long. She starts to slow down after that. She has a very sweet nature and is very protective. She loves to be with me in any room that I am in and loves sleeping in bed next to me. She enjoys snuggling under the covers and often will lay her head on a pillow. She will be turning eight at the end of November so she is pretty calm at this point and loves to lounge around the house for most of the day. She is a great companion. Her favorite thing is having her back scratched daily. She will sit in front of me and look at me over her shoulder until I oblige her with her scratches.
Chu Chu’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Chu loves being dragged around by her rope. American Bulldogs were bread do hunt wild hogs and when they would latch onto one they would go limp and allow the hog to tire itself out before they finished the job. Dragging her around helps fill that instinctual need.
She enjoys stuffed animals and sometimes will sleep with one in her mouth.
She enjoys short walks and going for car rides.
She loves any food and will often sit patiently while finish a meal hoping I let her lick my plate.
Cute Chu Chu Story:
When Chu Chu was a puppy we realized she loved being dragged around by her rope. She loved it so much we had to check her tummy for rug burn! She will grab rope and once you start pulling she will go completely limp, letting her back legs splay out behind her. We always called it “frog butt” and laughed every time.
Why is Chu Chu Being Rehomed?
Chu Chu was my ex husband’s dog and he left her with me as he suffers from alcoholism and addiction.
I have a job opportunity that has come up but it requires me to sell my home and relocate to an apartment. Large breeds are not allowed and I will be working 12 hour days and will be unable to let her out as needed anyway.
Chu Chu’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
Chu Chu really is happiest as the only pet and for some reason just does not seem to like small children. I would really love for her to go to someone who knows this breed. And can handle her reactivity. Preferably she would go to someone who could spend more time training her. She would be great for a single woman who wants protection and a companion or for a family with older kids. She truly is a great dog, and this is a very hard decision for me to rehome her.
Chu Chu is a happy and calm dog most of the time. She really just loves lounging around with her person. She will definitely let you know if anyone is knocking on your door or approaching your home. She is a great protector and is a very loyal dog. She is goofy and funny and absolutely loves being an only child.
