Looking for a Collie Australian Cattle Dog mix for adoption in ST CATHARINES, ON? Spotty would love to be considered for the position of your cherished family companion.

Spotty the Loyal Goofball: A Stick-Obsessed Snugglebug Seeks His Next Great Adventure

If dogs could write poetry, Spotty’s would probably rhyme “squirrel” with “whirl,” and include an ode to cheese, belly rubs, and a certain oversized stick that still lives in family legend. But words aren’t really Spotty’s thing — feelings are. And boy, does this boy feel.

He’s the type of dog who knows when you’re down before you do. He’ll whine softly if a baby cries on TV, and quietly glue himself to your side when you’re sick, heartbroken, or just plain out of sorts.

But don’t let the emotional intelligence fool you — this sweet-natured Australian Cattle Dog/Collie mix is also an absolute ham. He’s got zoomies that could rival a race car, a squeaky toy he serenades, and a talent for fly hunting that could earn him honorary feline status.

Spotty is four years old and built like a marshmallow with springs — soft-hearted, but full of bounce. He loves people with every ounce of his 55-pound soul, especially if they come bearing squeaky toys, peanut butter-flavoured chew bones, or an open lap. (Yes, laps. No, he does not care how big he is. Yes, it’s adorable.)

He thinks he wants to play fetch, but usually forgets what he’s doing halfway through and wanders off proudly, like he’s just solved a math problem. He’s also incredibly loyal — and a touch gullible, bless him. Spotty has been skunked not once, not twice, but five times, and still believes every furry creature wants to be friends.

💔 So Why Is Spotty Being Rehomed?
His current human is navigating a big life transition — marriage, retirement, and dreams of traveling the world. It’s a joyful new chapter, but not one that fits Spotty’s energy, enthusiasm, or daily squirrel patrols.

Rehoming him isn’t easy — it’s being done with a full heart and the deepest hope that he’ll find a home where he’s not just “managed,” but adored.

What Spotty Needs
Spotty’s ideal home has room to run, a human (or two) who loves a bit of joyful chaos, and a lifestyle that matches his energy. He’s not a match for small children (he’s a jumper), apartment living, or dog parks (he prefers his own space when it comes to other pups). He’s got some allergies managed with Apoquel, and a tendency to bark when excitement is in the air — but don’t we all?

🐾 A Little Extra Love
If you’re the kind of person who names your plants, talks back to the dog like they’re your roommate, and doesn’t mind sharing your bed (or at least the covers), you and Spotty might just be cosmic soulmates. He’ll make you laugh, keep you grounded, and follow you like the loyal shadow you didn’t know you needed.

Cute Spotty Story:

Dog for adoption in st catharines on
Why play with a stick when you can have the whole tree?

Funny – I’ve included a picture of a stick that he brought home that could barely fit on our back deck
Heartwarming – Spotty won’t leave my side if I am sick or upset. Spotty’s ears perk up and he whines when he hears any sounds of pain on TV, whether it’s from another animal, or a human, especially a baby

Why is Spotty Being Rehomed?

This decision comes from a place of love and deep consideration. Spotty’s owner recently turned 60 and is entering a new chapter of life — marriage, retirement, and the opportunity to travel more freely. While Spotty is adored, his high energy and need for regular activity aren’t the best fit for a lifestyle that’s becoming more relaxed and mobile.

Rather than ask him to adjust to a quieter pace, his family is hoping to find a home that matches his spirit — one where he can thrive, run, play, and be the joyful, devoted dog he was born to be. This isn’t about giving up on him; it’s about giving him the life he truly deserves.

Spotty’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:v

Spotty would thrive in a home where he can stretch his legs, sniff the breeze, and zoom to his heart’s content — think a fenced rural property, a hobby farm, or a spacious backyard. He’s happiest when he has room to roam outdoors and a cozy spot indoors to be close to his favorite people. Apartment life just isn’t his style.

Because Spotty is a strong, energetic dog who loves with his whole body (including jumping paws), he’s best suited for a home without small children or elderly individuals. He hasn’t spent time around kids, so while we can’t say for certain how he’d do, his excitement level could be a bit much for little ones.

He’d make a wonderful match for an active individual or couple — especially someone who enjoys outdoor time and is looking for a loyal, devoted companion.

If Spotty is rehomed nearby, and the new family is open to it, occasional visits from his current owner’s adult son (who is away at university) would be a meaningful bonus. While not essential, the option to stay connected would offer comfort to everyone involved — including Spotty.
