Looking for a Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) dog for adoption in San Diego, California? Lincoln would love to be considered for the position of your cherished family companion.
Meet Lincoln – San Diego’s Sweetheart in Spots
Imagine this: a handsome Blue Heeler with soulful eyes and speckled fur curls himself against your side like you’re the missing piece of his puzzle. That’s Lincoln. At just a year and a half old, this boy has already mastered the fine art of snuggling—you’ll never binge-watch a series or drink your morning coffee alone again. He’s the kind of dog who presses close not because he has to, but because he genuinely wants to.

But don’t let his cuddlebug side fool you. Lincoln is also part comedian, part athlete. His favorite pastime? Turning the yard into his personal racetrack, complete with zoomies that could give NASCAR a run for its money. He and his brother Nixon are famous for their stick-swapping game of “keep away”—a high-speed chase with feathers flying and tails wagging like banners in the wind. And when dinner hits the bowl? Lincoln eats with the enthusiasm of a dog who thinks it might be his last meal, savoring every bite as though kibble were caviar.
Lincoln’s story hasn’t always been easy. We believe he experienced rough treatment as a puppy, and it left him with a touch of shyness in new places and around new faces. But here’s the magic: once he feels safe, his timidity melts away, and the real Lincoln shines through—playful, loyal, and bursting with affection. He’s proof that resilience wears a wagging tail.
So why, you ask, is this lovable rascal looking for a new home? His family loves him dearly, but life with two young kids, full work schedules, and budding business ventures means Lincoln and his brother aren’t getting the open spaces and daily time they need to truly thrive. With heavy hearts, his humans are choosing what’s best for him: a home that matches his energy and his boundless love.
Lincoln dreams of a place where the grass is plentiful, the space is open, and his playful spirit can stretch as wide as the horizon. Ideally, he’d love to stay with his brother Nixon—they’ve weathered every storm together and make each other braver, sillier, and happier. But above all, he’s hoping for a family who will see him not as “just a dog,” but as the loyal, affectionate soul that he is.
If you’re looking for a best friend who will snuggle into your heart, run by your side, and remind you daily how beautiful second chances can be, Lincoln is waiting. Open your home, open your arms, and Lincoln will open his whole heart to you.
👉 Apply today and let Lincoln show you what unconditional love really feels like.
Please Note: Lincoln would love to be adopted with his best bud and brother, Nixon. These two boys have grown up side by side, sharing adventures, naps, and endless games of “keep away.” They are happiest when they’re together, and adopting them as a bonded pair means double the love, double the laughter, and double the loyalty.

Lincoln’s Personality
Lincoln is an anxious dog. We believe this is a result of him being abused when he was very young. In small, familiar crowds, Lincoln can be very relaxed and extremely easy-going. You can see his demeanor change quickly though in new surroundings and with new animals, although he does not get aggressive. He becomes timid and afraid more than anything. We have a common grass area in our HOA, where neighbors bring their dogs and kids out to play in the evening. We have never had a problem with him interacting and running around with everyone. He LOVES to run around and play with his brother Nixon. They both have lots of energy due to their age and breed and they will entertain each other for hours if they have the open space.
Lincoln does not have much experience with animals other than dogs. We initially had him in a crate when we first fostered him, which he seemed to enjoy. Now that he’s older (and bigger), he just sleeps on our couch. He easily sleeps through the night in our home without any bathroom accidents.
Lincoln’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
He seems to find more enjoyment out of sticks and feathers that he finds out around the house. Him and his brother will chase each other and play “keep the stick away” from one another. He loves food. He will eat every meal with urgency, as if it’s his last. Open area playing is where he loves to be.
Why is Lincoln Being Rehomed?
My wife and I have two kids. Now that they are Kindergarten age and getting older, my wife wants to get back into the work force with a new business that she is starting up. Between both our work schedules and our kids getting older and participating in more activities (school, sports, etc.), we are finding that it is too hard to give our energetic dogs the proper attention they need to thrive.
Lincoln’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
As I mentioned, due to their age and breed, they love being outside and in the open. A large yard or a home with any kind of acreage would be ideal for them. We are looking for a family that can take both of them together. We believe that they have had some rough times as puppies, and they got through those times together. We separate them (front yard/back yard) when we give them bones, because they will fight with each other if one finishes first. But when they both are finished and they are separated for much longer, they will whimper for each other. At least that’s what we believe, they have no other reason to be whining.
