Jelly the Boxer | A Heartfelt Tale of Joy, Jitters, and Giant Kisses
If love were a dog, it would look a lot like Jelly—wiggly, goofy, slightly awkward, and so full of heart it practically bursts out her snout in the form of slobbery kisses.

Jelly is the kind of dog who doesn’t just greet you—she announces you. Picture this: you open the front door and suddenly you’re met with seventy-two pounds of Boxer enthusiasm galloping toward you, tail stub wagging like a tiny metronome set to “joy.” She’s probably got a toy in her mouth, maybe two if she’s feeling fancy, and she’s ready to throw her whole heart into your lap (and possibly knock over a lamp or two along the way). Jelly doesn’t do anything halfway—except when she’s being shy. But we’ll get to that.
This girl is the very definition of a lovable contradiction. She’s bold but bashful. Silly but sensitive. Athletic but endearingly clumsy—especially when she’s doing her signature “zoomies” through the private dog park, carting a branch twice her size in her mouth like she’s auditioning for Lumberjack Games: Canine Edition. One minute, she’s sprinting full tilt through the trees; the next, she’s quietly sneaking under the bed for a nap, her safe little hobbit hole where she dreams of sprinklers and stuffed animals.
Jelly was rescued as a stray, and her early life left some marks—mostly invisible ones. She can be reactive around new people or strange dogs, and she does a bit of that classic “Boxer bump” when she’s uncertain. First impressions are not her strong suit, but give her a moment (and maybe a cheese treat) and suddenly she’s melting into you like warm butter. She loves with her whole soul once you’re in her circle, and that love is deep, loyal, and wildly rewarding.
Her current family adores her. They truly do. But life threw them a curveball, and they’re relocating overseas to a place where Jelly can’t come along—too many flights, too many changes, and too much risk for a tender-hearted dog who just found her footing. With heavy hearts, they’ve made the impossibly hard decision to find Jelly a new family—a fresh chapter where she’ll be loved just as fiercely and maybe get to explore a few new logs along the way.
Jelly would thrive in a peaceful, rural setting with room to romp, sniff, and sunbathe. She’d love a calm, confident person (or people) who understands that trust takes time, but the rewards are infinite. Another doggy sibling to chase and snuggle would be her dream come true. She’s not used to being crated and prefers a home where she isn’t left alone for long stretches—someone who’s around during the day would be her personal heaven.
She comes with all her gear (crate, leash, bed, records, even her favorite toys) and a big ol’ Boxer heart bursting with potential. If you’ve been longing for a companion who will make you laugh, teach you patience, and love you like you invented sunshine—Jelly is your girl.

5 Amazing Things About Jelly:
Jelly is goofy and sweet…she gets so excited when she greets her family! She plays really well with her little dog sisters (they are both older than her but she is wayyy bigger than they are) and she has never been aggressive with them. She loves to give kisses and snuggle and loves exploring the outdoors in safe places.
We take her to a private off leash park where it’s just us and our dogs and she runs with great joy and abandon—even if she’s not quite as graceful as her sisters! She has the gentlest mouth when accepting treats and gives great kisses! She is just a wonderful girl once she trusts you she is the very best, loving goofy girl.
Jelly’s owners are very sad to have to rehome their cherished dog, but circumstances beyond their control have made rehoming a must-do.

Jelly’s Personality
Jelly is sweet, silly and loveable and loving. She loves her toys and greets her family with toys at the door! She loves to chew bones and run and play with her sisters. She walks pretty well on leash but we do muzzle her.
She loves water too! She can be submissive and timid and doesn’t like being approached too directly by new people. She shies away from loud noises and can get spooked by sudden movements. She gets lots of hugs, love and attention from her family which she relishes!
She is a licker and loves to give slobbery kisses! She is used to sleeping either on our bed or underneath it…she does like to ‘hide’ in quiet places. She has been in a crate before but we don’t generally use one as I work from home so am generally around.
Jelly’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
I think I’ve mentioned them above…she loves to chew bones, antlers and the like and loves all kinds of toys…balls, stuffies, anything really! She loves to play in water and loves her sprinkler!
She loves running free at the private dog park and is pretty good on leash walks. We feed her Ancana dog food and she seems to like most of the flavours! She is on kibble…but she does get people food treats and particularly loves eggs, peas, carrots and asparagus!
Cute Jelly Story:
As soon as we enter the private dog park Jelly takes off like a shot and she looks so silly with her back legs sometimes catching up with her front! She immediately searches for a log to cart around in her mouth as she is dashing through the trails and in between the trees!
She loves her family and if we leave for any length of time, she greets us at the door with a toy and her little stub tail just a wiggling away! She is free with her kisses and loves to be hugged!
Why is Jelly Being Rehomed?
Our life circumstances have changed drastically and we will be relocating outside of Canada to a place that we cannot afford to transport her and where the climate is not particularly suitable to a big dog.
If we could take her, we definitely would but it just isn’t possible, nor do we believe the trauma of the trip (several plane rides and transfers) would not be in her best interests. She deserves to be here, with a family to love her and play with her…
Jelly’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
We just want a family/home that will love her, be patient with her and be willing to work with her. It would be great if she had company throughout the day so she wasn’t alone all the time, and in a place where she could roam a bit as she isn’t used to being crated. A rural setting where there was a fenced yard to run in would be absolutely ideal and we believe she would love another dog sibling to play with.
We will not be in the country and as this is breaking our hearts, we feel a clean break is absolutely best as we wouldn’t be able to intervene if things weren’t going well and so we prefer not to know about her new home but trust that we will find a home to love her and care for her like we do.

🐶 What breed is Jelly?
Jelly is a Boxer mix, and her personality reflects all the best qualities of the breed—playful, people-oriented, and delightfully clownish. Her exact breed mix is unknown, but she has the build, energy, and expressive face of a Boxer.
📍 Where is Jelly located?
Jelly is in Edmonton, Alberta, but she is available for adoption to approved homes throughout Alberta and possibly neighboring provinces, depending on travel logistics and the suitability of the match.
📅 How old is Jelly?
Jelly is 2 ½ years old, with a great mix of youthful energy and emerging maturity.
⚖️ How much does she weigh?
Jelly weighs approximately 72 pounds.
💉 Is Jelly spayed and vaccinated?
Yes! Jelly is:
- Spayed
- Up to date on all vaccinations
- Fully vetted, with all records available to her adopter
🩺 Does Jelly have any medical issues?
Nope! Jelly is in excellent health and has no known medical concerns.
🧠 Does Jelly have any behavioral challenges?
Jelly was rescued as a stray at around 8 months old, and while she’s come a long way, she’s still working through some reactive behaviors:
- She may be reactive on walks (barking/jumping at strangers or dogs), so her family currently walks her with a muzzle as a precaution.
- She needs slow introductions to new people in the home.
- She is not aggressive, but she’s protective and cautious with strangers.
Once she trusts you, she’s an absolute sweetheart—loyal, gentle, and eager to please.
🐕🦺 Is she good with other dogs?
Yes! She lives with two small dogs and gets along well with them. She took to them immediately. She hasn’t been extensively socialized with other dogs, but with proper introductions, she should do well.
🐈 Does Jelly get along with cats?
Her compatibility with cats is unknown, as she hasn’t lived with any. A cat-free home is likely the safest match unless the adopter is highly experienced with gradual dog-cat introductions.
👶 Is she good with children?
Jelly hasn’t lived with children, so her behavior around them is unknown. Given her shyness with new people and tendency to react to fast movements and loud sounds, a quieter, adult-only home (or one with older teens) is likely the best fit.
🏡 Is she house trained?
Yes! Jelly is fully house trained and does her business outside like a pro.
📦 Is she crate trained?
She has experience with a crate but isn’t routinely crated, as her current family works from home and she prefers open spaces. She’s well-behaved indoors and doesn’t require crating when left alone for short periods.
🛏️ Where does Jelly sleep?
Jelly loves to sleep on or under the bed—she’s a bit of a burrower and enjoys quiet, cozy hideaways.

Jelly loves:
- Chewing bones and antlers
- Toys of all kinds (especially stuffies and balls)
- Water play and sprinklers
- Zooming around at a private dog park
- Greet-you-at-the-door toy parades
- Giving big, slobbery kisses
🍽️ What does Jelly eat?

- Scrambled eggs
- Carrots
- Peas
- Asparagus
🐾 What makes Jelly special?
- Her heart-melting mix of goofiness and sensitivity
- Her hilarious “log-carrying” adventures at the dog park
- Her sweet, submissive cuddles and gentle treat-taking
- Her loyalty—once she knows you, you’re hers forever
🚗 Why is Jelly being rehomed?
Her family is relocating overseas and cannot take Jelly with them. The multiple flights and climate of the new location would be overwhelming and unsuitable for her. This decision was made out of deep love and responsibility, not lack of commitment.
🧍 What kind of home is Jelly looking for?
Her ideal forever home would be:
- Patient and understanding of her shy, reactive side
- Comfortable with using a muzzle during new encounters or walks, if needed
- In a quiet or rural setting, ideally with a fenced yard to run freely
- Possibly with another friendly dog to play with
- With someone home most of the day—she thrives on companionship
- Committed to continuing her gentle socialization
📦 What comes with Jelly?
Jelly will come with:
- Her crate
- Muzzle, leash, harness, and collar
- Dishes, toys, bed, blanket
- All medical and adoption records
💰 Is there an adoption fee?
