overall an extremely friendly dog. Loves people, loves to play with dogs. However the past 6 months he has had behavioral issues where he thinks if someone plays with him and touches his neck he thinks he may get attacked and bites first.

He was attacked in the dog park multiple times because he was overly excited and wanted to play with all dogs but some just don’t obviously and we thought maybe he will understand in time.

But he never did, and just gets attacked constantly, not to the point of being hurt, but the one last time he did, 3 dogs attacked him at once and ever since then we think he’s been traumatized by it.

I play rough with my dog and he loves it, and that’s how he grew up, but if anyone else tries to play the same way, he thinks different. Our family background is people that never had dogs before, so they don’t understand his cues.

One mistake we did is not letting him growl at anyone as a puppy. Everytime he would growl at someone for any reason we would interfere and say no, and put him away. This is why he now doesn’t give warning signs, and this was a mistake.

So whoever will be the new owner, we want you to know that if he realizes you are the new owner after all he wont see you as a threat if you play tug of war even with him. He is extremely friendly overall, just a few things trigger him.

I will explain the bite history and how it happened now. He has his own open concept room with a gate because some of my family members are scared of him so we put him there when they come over.

One time my friend went in there and played with him which he loved. Then my wife wanted to do some training, and got food out. She was showing tricks to her and she was impressed.

So impressed that she went to go kiss him, while he had treats in his mouth. Which he growled at her for, this made my wife anxious, and tried to get in the way. But my friend was so adamant that he wouldn’t do anything that she tried playing with him again and put his head down to show he’s okay and this is when my dog snapped and went for the bite.

That time, he at least gave one or two warnings, but she didn’t listen and didn’t step away when my wife asked her to do so. The one that caught us guard is, my grandmother came over one day, and she is fine with him, and he loves being pet in general.

She was petting him and he loved it and asked for more, he was laying down. Then he tried to get up and she didn’t let him and said, oh stay here, let me pet you more and he was annoyed from the fact that she tried to hold him down to keep petting and he went for a bite.

The other time he had his favourite food in our garage and our friend went to go see him, and she thought it was cat food because it was in those tuna food containers but it was actually dog food. He was eating away at it, she got worried and yelled at him from afar, he barked at her and was annoyed but she was persistent and then he finally snapped and came and bit her.

This is what she said. we were not home unfortunately because we were on vacation and they were taking care of him. We have come to a point where it’s not only his biting but even if we hired a trainer, we’re not sure how they would fix this problem, and also we have become extremely busy in our lives to give him the extra time and attention he needs to solve this biting.

We take him out for walks twice a day, and play with him, but now being worried that we will never fix his biting issue, and the fact that we don’t the time it would take to train him out of it.

Because we would have to be there for the training, and it could take a few days to a few months, which no trainer guarantees, which we understand. Plus he is extremely clumsy and jumps around when he plays, we are worried one day when we have kids which is soon, maybe he wont bite them but maybe he will injury them by jumping around playfully.

Gets along with: Older Children, New People, Dogs
Pet is: fully vaccinated, housebroken, and leash trained
Food: Other
We fed him Orijen for the first 1 and a half years. After that, we started to feed him with Kirkland signature’s domain Salmon & sweet potato dog food.

Ezel’s Personality

Well trained in doing tricks and knows lots of commands. The normal, sit, stay, come, up, lay, down, give me paw. But what he knows beyond that is, we got him to look into our eyes before he eats food, and after a 3 second stare in our eyes we say “EAT” and then he eats.

Or we will go out of the door, and we’ll make him wait, and look at us in our eyes and then tell him come. He goes up to our patio door and barks, that means he wants to go out to potty. He cant be beat in hid and seek, he’ll find you every time, no matter where we hid in the home.

HE LOVES WALKS, so he needs that at least once a day. He can become extremely needy and whiny if you don’t socialize with him that day whether it’s playing or car rides. He loves fresh water, with ice. he knows the difference between fresh water and water that’s been sitting in his room for over 2-3 days.

We tested this multiple times, and realized it’s not by coincidence. He can tell by the smell of his saliva if its new fresh water vs old. loves playing fetch. he loves playing with other dogs, he can do that all day. his recall is great, and you can leave him off leash. He loves to play or chew on toys.

If you buy him a new toy and introduce it to him, and put it in his bed or room, he will know that is his, and will only touch his toys, will not damage your home or furniture. He can tell the difference between his own blanket, and another blanket of the exact same color and size.

Extremely smart, well behaved, but just has those triggers that you need to know about, but you never have to worry about those triggers if he accepts you are the new owner. he sleeps on his own bed, but will sleep anywhere you ask him to.

If he is whining, it’s usually because he is bored, and wants to go out or wants attention. if you pet him he will stick with you and always wanted to be petted, if you stop petting him, he will lick your hands and push his muzzle in your hands until you continue petting him.

OH and he is extremely handsome, and so that’s why we never neutred him because we were thinking about breeding him at one point, and even if we didn’t breed him, we weren’t going to neuter him until he was two years old because it was better for his health.

Apparently, large dogs should be featured between 18-24 months at soonest, according to SOME vets, not all. if you take him some where new, he will never forget that place, and will cry if you go the second time out of excitement, especially if he

loved his experience there. He loves to swim in the river, and play fetch in the water.

Why is Ezel Being Rehomed?

We have a family background that wasn’t raised in Canada and back home they never had dogs. They are extremely scared of dogs, and the ones who are not scared, never had dogs to know ques of dogs.

We try to explain things he likes things he doesn’t but they don’t listen and were afraid another person in the family will get bit because of that. It’s already become a pattern at this point. He is such a good boy but the people we have around us just don’t listen and we don’t want to have another person bitten.

What if it’s our family’s kids that trigger him this time, we don’t know anymore, its worried us a lot. Small dogs bite all the time but they give lots of warnings and their bite is not as strong so lots of people ignore it, but this is a rottweiler, and we worry that what if we are not there during the bite, maybe we were inside while we were having a bbq outside. We worry our eyes would not be on him 24/7 and another bite could occur.
