Dobby, a German Shepherd dog for adoption in Houston texas

Looking for a German Shepherd dog for adoption in Houston, Texas? Dobby would love to be considered for the position of your cherished family companion.

Dobby the Gentle Giant – A Heartfelt Tale of Loyalty, Laughter, and New Beginnings

If loyalty had a face, it would be Dobby’s sweet, slightly goofy smile — the one that stretches from ear to floppy ear every time you walk through the door, as if he’s just won the lottery and you’re the prize.

Seven years ago, this big-hearted German Shepherd pup padded his way into his family’s life, instantly earning the name “Dobby” thanks to those adorably oversized ears and that earnest, hopeful gaze that could melt a glacier. And true to his namesake, he’s been nothing short of magical ever since — a guardian, a best friend, and a daily reminder of how pure love can be when it comes on four paws.

Dobby’s superpower? Making everyone feel safe and seen. Whether you’re a shy rescue dog like his “sister” Freya (who took one look at him and panicked before realizing he was basically a 90-pound teddy bear), a kid dropping your crusts at the dinner table, or just someone needing a warm head to lean on — Dobby is your guy. He’s calm. He’s cuddly. He’s delightfully dorky. And oh, he will absolutely wiggle himself into a full-body happy dance if you so much as think about scratching his bum.

He’s that rare combination of giant and gentle — crate-trained, housebroken, and respectful of cats, dogs, children, and couches (okay, maybe slightly less respectful of bread… he’s been known to engage in light carb theft when given the chance).

And now, with a heavy but hopeful heart, his people are preparing for a big move overseas. Life is taking them to a place where Dobby, heartbreakingly, can’t follow. So with courage and love, they’re doing the hardest thing — choosing what’s best for him, even if it means letting go.

What Dobby needs now is simple: a kind, steady soul to share his next chapter. A family who’ll laugh when he dances to the ice cream truck jingle, who’ll toss him ice cubes like they’re gold nuggets, and who’ll whisper “good boy” at night as he settles in, tail thumping gently against the floor.

If you’ve got room in your heart (and a little freezer space for carrots), Dobby is ready to give you everything he’s got — and more. He comes with a crate, a barely-used dog bed, and enough love to last a lifetime.

Cute Dobby Story:

When we brought home our second dog, Freya, she was terrified of everything so when Dobby, the massive sweetheart he is, saw another dog, he just walked up to her like they had been friends forever. While it terrified her and she bristled up, scared of this big puppy, he was unfazed, sniffling and licking her until, days later, she gave in, and they have been together ever since.

Why is Dobby Being Rehomed?

Unfortunately, we will be leaving the country and the place we are headed will not allow dogs, as we will be living on campus.
