Looking for a German Shepherd dog for adoption in Houston, Texas? Freya would love to be considered for the position of your cherished family companion.

Freya the Midnight Patrol Officer – Sweet, Soft, and Full of Heart

If Dobby, her brother, is the heart of the house, Freya is the quiet guardian watching over it.

Every night, this gentle 6-year-old German Shepherd does her rounds like clockwork — quietly padding from room to room between naps, making sure everyone is safe and exactly where they should be. It’s not something she was trained to do. It’s just who she is — a loyal, observant soul who takes her job as protector very seriously (even if she’s sprawled out on her bed with her tongue hanging out halfway through).

Freya came into her family’s life a little shy, a little unsure, but full of sweetness. And with time, patience, and love, she blossomed into the biggest cuddlebug you can imagine. Once you earn her trust, she becomes your personal shadow — choosing whose lap to curl up in, leaning into affection with a quiet intensity that’ll leave pawprints on your heart.

She’s a velvety-soft mix of playful and gentle — happy to zoom around the yard with her brother Dobby, or lounge by your side watching the world go by. She’s great with kids, other dogs, and even cats, and while she can be a little startled by loud noises, a gentle word and a comfy spot will bring her right back to her happy place.

Freya is being rehomed for the most heartbreaking of reasons: her family is moving overseas for school and must live on-campus, where dogs are not allowed. Their love for her is so deep that they’re doing the hardest thing — letting her go so she can have the life and space she deserves.

If you’re looking for a best friend with soulful eyes, a gentle heart, and a commitment to household security (night patrol included), Freya is your girl.

And if your heart is big enough for two? She and Dobby would love nothing more than to stay together. But if only one spot is open in your heart and home, Freya will fill it completely.

Cute Freya Story:

When it is raining outside and we have to let them in, we have a routine to wipe them down to let them in the house. She knows to come in to the floor towel we put down and just lay down so we can towel her thick fur. She will lay there with her tongue just hanging out her mouth, happy panting, patiently waiting for command to continue.

Why is Freya Being Rehomed?

We are moving overseas to an on-campus apartment, and we are not allowed to have dogs there.

Freya’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Freya and Dobby love people who are caring, and will allow them to be silly and hyper. A place with a back yard is best, but if they can walk them a lot, it should be fine.
