Meet Midnight – Pre-Loved German Wirehaired Pointer dog For Adoption by Owner in Strathroy Ontario
They named me Midnight because I came into their lives like a quiet miracle—dark, mysterious, and impossible to ignore. I still remember the way their hands trembled with joy when they first held me, how their laughter sounded when my ears were too big for my head and my paws tripped over each other. Three years later, I’m still that same girl at heart—just taller, wiser, and a little more dramatic when I plop down with a sigh that says, “Ahhh, yes. This life is exhausting.”

I am many things. I am eyebrows with opinions. I am a brindled blur of zoomies that ricochets joyfully through the living room. I am the quiet chin-on-your-lap negotiator when treats appear. I am the proud parade marshal of sticks on walks—especially the day I dragged a literal five-foot tree limb home like a conquering hero, leaves fluttering behind me as I strutted down the sidewalk.
I am playful and observant, clever and curious, brave and occasionally… a little unsure of the world. Big trucks make my heart race. New situations can feel loud inside my chest. But give me time, and space, and patience—and I soften. I learn. I trust.
My people love me fiercely. That’s the hardest part of this story. This goodbye is not born of impatience or disappointment, but of love mixed with the kind of life changes no one plans for. I share my home with cats I desperately want to chase (it’s in my blood, I swear), and that’s become unsafe for everyone.
The walls here are close, the world outside is loud, and my humans’ days have grown fuller and busier in ways that leave me needing more calm, more structure, more time than they can give. So now they’re doing the bravest thing they know how to do: letting me go so I can thrive.
I’m not perfect—and I won’t pretend to be. I get anxious sometimes, especially at the vet (they help me through that with medication and lots of reassurance). I still jump up when excitement overtakes me, and once in a while I’ll grab something and suggest a game of “you’ll never catch me.”
On leash, I can be cautious and reactive until I feel safe. These are not deal-breakers—they are chapters still being written. With steady guidance, kind boundaries, and consistent love, I keep getting better. I really do try.
What I dream of is simple. A quiet home. No cats. A person who sees beyond my nerves and into my heart. Someone who will laugh at my dramatic sighs, admire my expressive face, throw my ball just one more time at sunset, and let me curl up nearby when the day grows still.
I will give you loyalty that hums like a second heartbeat. I will watch over your house with devotion. I will be your shadow on walks and your champion of sticks. I will love you the only way I know how—completely.
If you’ve been waiting for a dog who feels like a story unfolding rather than a finished sentence… I might be your girl.
My name is Midnight. And I am ready for my next forever.
If your heart just stirred a little, please apply to adopt me. I can’t wait to meet the person who will write the rest of my story.

Midnight’s Personality
Midnight is an expressive and intelligent dog with a playful, spirited nature and a deeply affectionate heart. She’s clever, curious, and quick to observe everything happening around her, often watching you with her big, thoughtful eyes and animated eyebrows as if she’s trying to read your next move.
She has a balance of independence and connection. Midnight is independent enough to stay busy with a toy or explore on her own, but she’s also very social and people-oriented—always wanting to share the moment with you. She bonds strongly with her humans and loves being involved in daily life, checking in often just to make sure she’s part of what’s happening.
Midnight approaches the world with enthusiasm and purpose. She enjoys engaging play, outdoor adventures, and thrives on physical activity. Whether she’s doing her signature purposeful zoomies, weaving around furniture like an obstacle course, or showing off her goofy side, she brings a sense of fun and personality to everything she does.
At the same time, she has a sensitive, expressive side. Midnight communicates her feelings with honesty, humour, and the occasional dramatic sigh when she settles in to relax. She loves learning (especially when treats are involved), pays close attention to her person, and truly thrives when given connection, structure, and positive reinforcement.
She is a blend of smarts, independence, loyalty, and quirky charm.
Midnight’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Favourite toys: rope toys, rubber squeaky balls, durable chew toys (her Y-bone being a favourite).
Favourite foods: wet food mixed with dry food, beef liver treats, apple slices, blueberries, licking out yogurt containers when you’re done and the occasional plain Timbit.
Activities: daily walks, time at the dog park, car rides, fetch and tug-of-war.
Cute Midnight Story:
If Midnight finds a good stick while on a walk, she loves to bring it home with her all the while picking up the pace and looking so proud. One time she found an incredibly large stick/small limb of tree, probably 5 feet long with leaves attached. She managed to bring it home all the while dragging it along the sidewalk and road.
Why is Midnight Being Rehomed?
She has a high prey drive and does not get along with our cats, who have been part of the family for years, creating ongoing stress and safety concerns in the home. Midnight also struggles with anxiety and is naturally vocal and sensitive to noise, which has been challenging in an attached house where sound easily carries to neighbours.
On top of this, my schedule has become significantly busier, leaving me with less time to give her the consistency, attention, and support she needs to feel secure. I believe she will truly thrive in a quieter, cat-free environment with someone who can devote the time and calm structure she deserves.
Midnight’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
Midnight will do best in a quiet, detached home where she can relax without constant noise or activity around her. She needs an adopter who is patient, understanding, and committed to continuing her training with positive reinforcement.
A secure yard is helpful for play and exploration, and due to her high prey drive, she cannot live with cats or small animals. With the right person who appreciates her sensitivity, smarts, and expressive nature, Midnight will thrive as a loyal and endearing companion.
She is a sensitive dog who needs an environment that can support her anxiety, prey drive and reactivity. With the right home and continued guidance, she has the potential to do very well! We truly want her to have the best chance in a home that matches her needs.
