This very special dog is 2 yrs old and weighs 70.
Anna is such a sweet dog. She is good with children and other dogs, and also gets along well with cats. She would be the perfect dog were it not for her separation anxiety, which means she panics when left home alone.
This is a common issue that many dogs face, particularly those of Anna’s age, born and raised during the Pandemic, when every dog had their people with them almost 24/7. Dogs are very much creatures of routine, and the change from having people around to going solo all day has been hard for them.
Anna is no exception. Unfortunately, her owner has to work, and there is nobody home to be with Anna during the day. As a result, she panics, and can become destructive in her despair at being alone.
The best solution to this problem is to find a family who are home during the day, and/or who have another dog-friendly dog that can be Anna’s pack when her people have to leave for any amount of time.
There is also training and therapy for dogs with this issue, which really just entails gradually exposing the dog to being alone, starting with just minutes, and slowly increasing the time frame until the dog understands that their people will return.
