Haru – Grey Tabby Cat For Adoption in Astoria Queens

Haru’s Personality

Haru is very sweet! He always greets me with loud purrs and cuddles, he loves being petted and is always so excited to see his owner home. He loves to lay on his belly and get belly rubs. Haru usually cuddles next to me, makes biscuits in his blanket, and sleeps close to me. When I am working from home, he just sits by the window and watches the birds.

Haru is also playful, he loves to wrestle with his toys, and chase other toys too. He is also curious about new things and will slowly approach them if I am around him. He is not destructive, he has a scratching pole and he scratches that when he wants. I have a cat tree which Haru loves and other toys that will go to his new owner if they want them. He has always been an only cat, but I have been told by cat behaviorists that he might benefit from being around another cat.

Haru does not meow at night, or bother my sleep. He adjusts well to routine but is sensitive to changes.

Haru is an anxious cat who needs a sensitive owner. It takes him time to warm up to people, so the new owner should be patient. But once he does, he will be very loyal and will want to be around you all the time. Haru has gotten along very well with my roommates, he lets them pet him and sometimes even carry him (but this will take time). When there are new people in the house he slowly gets closer to them, but if I’m around, he will have no problem approaching new people.

Why is Haru Being Rehomed?

I have a very unstable routine due to work and other personal issues. I move to new apartments often and I usually live with a few roomies who sometimes have guests over, this really stresses him out because his routine is constantly disrupted. My routine is also very unstable and will be for the next years, sometimes I am home all day other times I am not home at all.
