Looking for a Border Collie Jack Russell Terrier Mix (Border Jack) dog for adoption in Washington, DC? Daisy would love to be considered for the position of your cherished family companion.

Daisy: The Trail-Loving, Toy-Toting, Morning-Cuddling Queen of Hearts

📍 Washington, DC | 🐾 Border Jack | 💕 Age 6 | 25 lbs of pure devotion

If there were a gold medal for emotional intelligence in dogs, Daisy would already have it hanging around her neck — likely while balancing on a log in the woods or nestled under your blanket, snoozing like it’s her job.

Daisy is a six-year-old Jack Russell Terrier/Border Collie mix with all the spark and agility of an athlete and the soul of a therapist. She’s got a passion for squeaky toys, crunchy snacks (hello, carrots and popcorn!), and long, nature-filled hikes where she can show off her rock-climbing prowess.

But when the boots come off? She’ll happily burrow in beside you, especially if you’re feeling blue — Daisy has an uncanny way of knowing exactly when you need a warm nuzzle and a few lovingly slobbery kisses.

She’s incredibly smart, quick to learn, and absolutely lights up when her people come home (toy in mouth, belly up, tail wagging like a windmill). She’s a morning cuddler and a professional napper, especially if someone’s staying in bed just a little longer — Daisy lives for lazy mornings snuggled under the covers.

Like any complex character, Daisy has her quirks. She can be a bit anxious in chaotic environments — little kids, noisy dogs, or crowded settings can rattle her nerves. She prefers the company of calm, older children and dogs who take life at a slower pace (big dogs get bonus points).

She’s never aggressive, but she will let you know when she’s overwhelmed. Her ideal home is one where someone’s around more often than not — she thrives with companionship and consistency.

Daisy’s beloved family is heartbroken to let her go, but with both daughters off to college, a cross-country move ahead, and demanding work schedules, they know she deserves more time, more hikes, and more snuggles than they can give.

So now, this lovable, loyal little shadow is looking for her next adventure — maybe with you?

If you’re the kind of person who starts the day with coffee and ends it with a walk in the woods, who can read when a dog just needs a soft voice and a quiet cuddle, Daisy might be your perfect match.

Daisy’s Personality

See above, but Daisy is also very playful. She loves long walks and hikes, especially in the woods. She loves to play tug and to chew toys that have a squeaker in them. In general, she has a lot of energy, but she really loves to snuggle and nap, especially under covers.

Daisy’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Daisy’s favorite activities are chewing on toys (stuffed toys w/ a squeaker), hiking (she loves climbing on rocks and fallen trees), and she loves playing tug. She’ll eat just about anything, but really loves crunchy things like carrots and popcorn.

Cute Daisy Story:

Daisy is always SO EXCITED when we come home—it’s like having our own welcoming committee! She immediately brings us her favorite toy and lay down so we can rub her belly.
And whenever someone is sad, she’ll snuggle with them and gives lots of kisses—she knows when you need extra love!

Why is Daisy Being Rehomed?

A couple of things are happening at once—our second daughter is going to college (our first is already in college) and we are moving to California for my husband’s work. His new job includes a lot of travel, and with our daughter’s being away at school and I work in a hospital, so there won’t be anyone to care for Daisy. She is such a people dog and she deserves to be with a family that will be home with her.

Daisy’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

I think Daisy would do well with someone who is active and likes being outside. Ideally, the home would have a fenced in backyard. She would be ok with kids, so long as they were older and can read when she needs the energy around her to be low. I think she would also be ok with another dog so long as the dog was mild and low energy (she prefers big dogs).
