Skittles is a Male Longhaired Black Cat for adoption to a very loving home in or near Durango, Co. This very special cat is 14 yrs old and weighs 10 pounds.
5 Amazing Things About Skittles:
1) easy to care for
2) hasn’t gone after any of our furniture. ( he does get to go out plenty )
3) He is good at climbing trees and coming down for his own safety.
4) I believe he would actually take walks with someone if there would be little to no threat of dogs. He follows me everywhere around our property and seems to have no fear of loud tools or equipment.
5) we live right next to a highway and he has shown no interest at going out by the road or out of our driveway. ( wise cat with age )?

Skittles’s Personality
Skittles just wants to be on, near or around someone to be loved on. Likes to be petted but not so much on tummy. He will follow me wherever I go in or outside of the house just to be near and hang out. He has always been a single owners pet up to just this last year. We use to think he was grumpy years back but pretty sure just spoiled now. He really is pretty sweet, and doesn’t like being scolded at all.
Skittles’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
He seems to only be mildly interested in toys but haven’t spent a lot of time trying.
We do feed him both wet and dry food. He is not particular that we know of. The wet has always been a pate’ thus far.
He does like to go outside and I have seen signs that indicate he is a good mouser..He does not behave as if he was 14 or 15 when you watch him scurry up a tree 5 – 10 feet and jump down for the fun of it.
Just that he follows me around everywhere is somewhat endearing.
Cute Skittles Story:
Truly, we have had cats in the past and never one that I believed I could take on walks like this one would I think. He is the perfect Halloween cat. He does the perfect arched back and has the yellow eyes. ( though stressful for him and our dogs )
We are pretty sure his prior owner would take him to the beach in Florida.
Why is Skittles Being Rehomed?
He came to us through an unexpected death in the family. Our dogs, two huskies, have been around and love cats so we thought it would not be much of an issue and he would warm up to them but, with no such luck. It’s been 6 months and unfortunately he is probably just too old to make the adjustment. I can’t quite cuddle him like he wants and deserves since I’m pretty allergic to the little man, and my wife works out of town most the year.
Our dogs are also older and pretty bummed and stressed and have definitely been neglected whenever he is present indoors.
It also is very stressful for skittles to try and navigate the dogs.
We have never had to do anything like this with one of our beloved pets and only do this as a last resort.
Skittles’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
Hopefully a couple or single person as this is what he had, and never was in a household with children. We honestly don’t know how he would be with small children, he is an older spoiled cat.
Someone that might be around most the time would be ideal since his previous owner did work from home.
He actually is great with both my wife and myself. ( just not the dogs )
Not sure how he would be with another cat.
Since this was a very close family members cat we would like to be notified if it just doesn’t work out for any reason.
