Saluki Afghan Hound Mix For Adoption in Pine Mountain Club California – Supplies Included – Adopt Kamaji

Meet Kamaji – Unique and Very Special Saluki x Afghan Hound Mix Dog for Adoption in Pine Mountain Club, CA

Looking for a very unique dog to adopt Southern California? Just 6 years old and weighing 85lbs, Kamaji is a mix of Saluki, Afghan Hound and Iranian Grey Wolf. He came to the US from Iran, where his owner rescued him from the streets. Kamaji is a true friend and companion. He is playful and friendly, gets along well with other dogs, and is amazing with children. He enjoys meeting new people, and is excited to participate in whatever his humans are up to – especially if it involves lots of outdoor activity. He is a great motivator, and will keep you on track with your family’s fitness goals.

Kamaji’s owner is very sad to have to rehome his cherished companion, but Kamaji has been continually attacked and picked on by his other dog, Samus. It is not fair to Kamaji to have to continually live in fear of another attack, and keeping the dogs separate can be challenging. Kamaji deserves a home where he feels safe, and where he can be the main attraction among family members.

The owner is hoping to find a new home for Kamaji where this he will be cherished and kept safe, happy, and healthy for the remaining years of his life. This is a dog that touches the hearts of everyone he meets. His positive attitude and enduring spirit are inspirational, particularly considering his early life as a street dog. He holds no grudges whatsoever.

If you have room in your heart and home for Kamaji, please complete our online meeting request form. Once received, our Pine Mountain Club Dog Rehoming team will make arrangements for you to meet Kamaji and his/her owners. Adopt Kamaji today!

There is a $150.00 adoption processing fee. Supplies, accessories, and veterinary records will be included.

    Kamaji’s Personality

Kamaji is originally from Iran and was rescued from the streets there. He is an absolute sweetheart, very derpy, and has a puppy-like rambunctious drive to run and play.

He is also a bit nervous and tentative partially due to the fact that he has been attacked by our other dog, Samus, a handful of times. I have tried CBD treats with him recently and this does seem to help.

He loves being outside, especially running full speed chasing sticks or just hiking. He gets along fine with other dogs and doesn’t even seem to hold a grudge against Sam. We just met a random large German Shepherd on the trail the other day that came out of nowhere off leash and he was a perfect gentleman and they ended up playing together for half an hour.

I think Kamaji could go to a home with other dogs as long as they are not too aggressive and understand him when he signals he is done playing. I would recommend feeding him by himself though as he has displayed protective behavior around food when other animals are in the same room.

    Why is Kamaji Being Rehomed?

When I got my dogs I had a partner that was equally responsible for taking care of our pets. That relationship ended a few years ago and since I was in a better position financially and lifestyle-wise to take care of the dogs, I kept them myself.

Since I have to keep them separate, walks, playtime and all other dog-care activities take twice as long for me. This wasn’t a problem in my last 2 roles but my new employment situation is making this impossible to keep up.

Additionally, I got engaged recently and am looking to move in with my fiancée after over 2 years – she has animals as well and the living situation with the separated dogs would be too complicated.

Finally, I feel guilty for keeping my dogs separate and largely unable to interact with other dogs, so I feel like although I know they are healthy and getting hikes with me, the environment I am providing them may not be their best chance at happiness.
