Just 7 years old and weighing 24 kg, Shep is a lovely Shetland Sheepdog that has been neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, crate trained, housebroken, leash-trained, and obedience-trained. Shep is good with small children, older children, other dogs, dog-friendly cats, and people he has yet to meet. He is an absolutely amazing dog looking for an absolutely amazing family to cherish him and keep him safe, happy, and healthy for the rest of his life.
Shep’s owners are very sad to have to rehome their precious dog. They are dearly hoping to find a wonderful new home for Shep with owners who will cherish him whilte keeping him safe, happy, and healthy.
Shep truly is the kind of dog that will steal your heart within moments of meeting him. He would do well in any home, so long as they have a large, securely fenced yard and lots of time to spend with him. Shep thrives on human companionship. ♥ Health Problems: Yes. The thyroid gland does not work well – the same as happens in humans – hypothyroidism which is a hormonal gland. So there is a veterinary medication supplement that must be taken daily.
♥ Behavior Issues: No
♥ Gets along with: Respectful older children, adults, dogs. Shep has not been exposed to babies, toddlers, and cats so I don’t know exactly what his reaction will be. I think he would be fine because he has a loving and protective personality. Just needs to be properly introduced to those groups.

Shep’s Personality
Shep’s personality is very much typical of a shepherd-type personality; protective of his space and people(flock); but not aggressive by baring his teeth, just sounds the alarm. He is also very loving and will curl up on the floor or in a chair with people. He likes some quiet time alone during the day, and is happy to be outside a lot to “keep an eye and ear on things”. He is kept in the house at night and will sleep in his bed in the bedroom. Loves to go for a ride in the back seat of a truck or car, and just sits quietly with no fuss.
Why is Shep Being Rehomed?
Shep was my wife’s dog and I spent 1/2 of every year away from home. She passed away in late August and I can not give him the care he deserves. I do not want to put him in boarding all the time. So far I have kept him at home but the long term is not feasible. He needs a home with proper care.
