Cleopatra’s Personality
Cleopatra is a senior cat with a lot of life left in her. People see her and say wow that is a big cat, and then become amazed at how active she can be while playing. She is super sweet and enjoys spending her days napping in the sun. She loves everyone, but will run and hide from toddlers. They tend to want to be rough with her and I’ve noticed she knows they are babies. So she will go hide while they are around to avoid scratching or biting them when they won’t leave her alone. My friend passed away during covid and I had her dog for a little bit. He and Cleopatra coexisted very well. I’ve never had her around other cats. She loves adults and children who are gentle with her. My vet has also said she would be a great therapy cat and that she would also be a good candidate for leash training.
When I moved to Georgia four years ago she was overweight (20lbs) and I didn’t realize she was struggling to clean herself. She had a UTI and her vet cut her food intake and put her on a weight management food. She lost 8lbs in 6 months and has maintained that weight through two feedings twice a day.
Why is Cleopatra Being Rehomed?
I adopted Cleopatra from the ASPCA in NYC because of a pest problem I was having, and have taken her with me over the years from New Jersey, to Maryland to now Georgia. In other states I had people who would either stay with her while I was away, or come each day and feed her and show her some love. My job is now demanding much more of my time and I am having to pay a lot of money in boarding fees for her multiple times a year. Financially it is just so hard on me now, and Cleopatra deserves so much better than me being annoyed that I have to always think about her before I can make a move.
