Hi, My name is Abby!
I am a beautiful, Fawn/Short Hair Female Labrador Retriever / Bloodhound Mix Dog. I am 3 and weigh 60lbs. I live in Los Angeles, CA. I have been spayed, micro-chipped, fully vaccinated and healthy. I am house broken and well behaved. I love people and am very affectionate and loyal.
Abby is a Southern charm! This sweet and very pretty Bloodhound / Labrador retriever mix has such a nice personality. She is a true friend, and very devoted and affectionate.
Abby was adopted in North Carolina, but moved to Los Angeles with her owner. Despite his best efforts, living in LA and keeping a large dog like Abby are not working out. Abby is spending far too much time alone, cooped up in a small apartment.
Her owner worries about her and feels so guilty every single day. He wants Abby to have the best life possible, and realizes that his currently lifestyle is not the best for her.
He is dearly hoping to find Abby a loving home with a family who will cherish her and keep her safe, happy and healthy. Abby needs a nice big yard to play in, and people who have lots of time to give her the care, attention, love and exercise she needs and very much deserves.

Abby’s Current Home Environment
I live with two roommates in an apartment in Hollywood. We all love Abby, but we just don’t have the time financial means to give her the attention and upkeep that she deserves. I try to take her to the park when I can but that only ends up being once or twice every other week or so. Really not enough for what she needs.
Abby’s Current Family:
It’s just me and Abby. Plus the two roommates. But I feed, walk, bathe, and take Abby to the vet.
Abby’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
In the three years I’ve had her, Abby has only played with two types of toys: Those made out of fire hose and those made out of rope that she can tug of war with. She will chew through just about any toy that is not indestructible. The fire hose toys are the only ones that seem to last for longer than a month or two.
As far as food is concerned, she eats a limited ingredient diet. Her vet believed that her ear infections might be made worse by low quality food. Since I switched her to the limited ingredient foods and started paying a little more for it as well she got much better. Even began playing more. For treats it’s the same thing, she only eats freeze dried pure meat treats. No, to very little, human food.
She loves the dog park. She was attacked by a pitbull (nothing serious, she got away quickly) at the dog park in Griffith park almost a year ago. It took a while, and she’s still a little nervous, but she’s back to running around and playing with the other dogs. Other than that she loves hard treats that she can chew on for hours.
Cute Abby Story:
One morning, I got up and began to go through my morning routine. I had filled Abby’s food bowl and called for her to come eat but she wouldn’t come. After a minute I called her again and she still wouldn’t come. I went in to my room to see where she was and she was pacing on my bed, unable to get off because a small cardboard box was on the floor where she likes to jump off and she didn’t want to get near it (she’s always been afraid of cardboard boxes…). As soon as I kicked it aside she bolted to her food bowl.
Why is Abby Being Rehomed?
Abby was my family dog back in North Carolina, in fact I rescued her from the SPCA in Raleigh when she was two months old. When I moved to Los Angeles, my family kept her. But she became too much for my family (she wasn’t trained then and I have two much younger siblings) and they were going to give her back to SPCA. So I had them fly her out to me. At the time I had a part time job and could devote a lot of my time to her. But now I have a full time job and I’m beginning to do more work outside of my full time job with my production company on the side and I just don’t have the time to devote to Abby that she deserves. My roommates have stepped in to help watch and take care of her when I’m not home. But it’s just not fair to Abby anymore that we only spend a couple hours a day together. Sometimes I leave at 8am and come home at 9pm and then have to be out again the next morning at 8am again.
Also, as much as I hate to say it, dogs are expensive and Abby is an expense that I just can’t afford right now either. She doesn’t deserve that either.
It kills me that I have to give her up. I basically rescued her twice and she feels like my child. Because of that I feel it’s only right I find her a forever home that can give her the love, attention, and TIME that she needs. Something I just don’t see myself being able to give her anytime soon.
Abby’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
I want someone who will love Abby and spend time with her. She’d make a great family pet. I’d love for her to have kids to play and grow up with. She means a lot to me, she’s seen me through some rough times, I just want her to be loved and cared for. Really, whatever that looks like is fine by me.
Additional Comments:
Abby must be walked with a harness that she can’t slip out of. It hasn’t happened in a long time, but if something spooks her bad enough she’ll try and slip out of her collar to run away out of fear.
