From Louie, With Love: A Big Muppet-Lookin’ Softie Seeks His Forever People

Hi. I’m Louie. But my friends call me Lou, LouBug, Big Fluff, or “Oh My Gosh, He’s So Cute.” I look a little like a Muppet that escaped the Jim Henson workshop—curly, expressive, and just a little bit ridiculous in the best way. I have soulful eyes, a teddy bear body, and a heart the size of Massachusetts. And I’m here to tell you something brave.

I’m looking for my new forever family.

Now, before you worry—no, I didn’t do anything bad (unless stealing hearts counts). My person loves me dearly. In fact, letting me go might be the hardest thing she’s ever done. But she wants what’s best for me. And honestly? I do too.

You see, I’m a 68-pound cuddle magnet with the enthusiasm of a golden retriever and the soulful sensitivity of a poet. My person lives alone, and I’ve gotten… well, let’s say enthusiastically large. The breeder told her I’d top out around 45 pounds. But surprise! I grew into a whole lot of love. She’s doing her best—truly—but I need more space, more people to adore, and a yard where I can zoom like the majestic goofball I am.

Let’s talk personality. I’m part Wheaten Terrier, part Poodle, and 100% emotional support sponge. Feeling sad? I will know. I will put my paw on your shoulder (yes, I literally do this), gaze into your soul, and silently say, “I’m here, and also, I’d love some chicken, thanks.”

I adore children. Babies? Toddlers? Teens? LOVE. THEM. I’m gentle, goofy, and incredibly intuitive with little ones. And if you’re a guy, especially a dad-type in cargo shorts? I will probably imprint on you like a baby duck.

I also listen when you say “No”—unless it’s “no more treats,” in which case I will respectfully disagree with my entire body.

Sure, I’ve got a couple of quirks. I don’t love grooming or vet visits. Who does? But if you go slow, give me lots of “good boys,” and maybe some bacon bribes, I’ll get through it. I also have strong opinions about leash walking. Specifically: I’d prefer to drag you like a majestic sled dog unless you remind me we’re not training for the Iditarod. I’m working on it, I promise.

My absolute favorite things? Toys that squeak. Liver treats. Playing with other dogs at the park (except Shepherds… they freak me out a bit). And making sure no one has pilfered my carefully hidden toy stash when I come back inside. My inventory control is elite.

What I’m dreaming of is this: A home with a fenced yard where I can chase butterflies and roll in the grass. People—plural—who think I’m just the best thing ever (you will). Maybe some kids to cuddle. Maybe another dog to wrestle with. Definitely a soft bed and a warm spot in your heart.

And if you’ve ever thought, “I want a dog who will love me with everything he’s got,” well… it’s me. I’m that dog.

So—what do you say? Want to make the rest of our story a joyful one?

Love and liver treats,
Louie 🐾

any new toy or toy that squeaks. Loves any toy he can chew on.

Cute Louie Story:

when he sees a person he loves and they bend down to say hello to him, Louie puts his paw on their shoulder. It is so cute. He does it all the time and people love it.
When another dog roams inside our house and Louie is outside on his lead playing, the minute the other dog leaves our house, Louie goes in and takes stock of all his toys and hidden bones to make sure the dog has not stolen anything. It is so funny.

Why is Louie Being Rehomed?

He deserves a yard to run around in. He deserves to live with more people who can give him more attention. I live by myself and do not have a fenced in yard. I did not expect Louie to be this big. The breeder said he would be no more than 45 pounds. He is 68 pounds. He has taken to pulling me on his leash again and I am retraining him all over again. He is on a choke chain and still pulls hard. It’s taking a toll on my back, my hip, and my neck. I am single and have no help with him. He deserves more people time and to run free.

Louie’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

A home with a fenced in yard or farm. He won’t run away. He is too scared. Maybe a family with children who can also play with him. He loves kids. He would do well with another dog to play with.

I would love to stay in touch and know how he is doing and that he is happy and I did the right thing.

Louie Adoption FAQ

What breed is Louie?

Louie is a Whoodle — a lovable mix of Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier and Poodle. He’s got the curls, the charm, and the Muppet-level cuteness to prove it.

Is Louie hypoallergenic or non-shedding?

Whoodles are often described as low-shedding and may be easier on allergy sufferers than many other breeds. However, no dog is truly 100% hypoallergenic, and individual sensitivities vary. Louie does have a soft, wavy coat that requires regular grooming.

How old is Louie?

Louie is just 2 years old — full of playful energy, but already past the puppy chaos stage.

What is Louie’s expected lifespan?

Whoodles typically live 12 to 15 years with proper care, love, and regular vet checkups. Louie has a great start and lots of happy years ahead.

Is Louie good with children?

Yes! Louie absolutely adores children. He’s gentle, intuitive, and loves being part of a family with kids.

Is Louie good with cats?

We’re not sure yet — Louie hasn’t lived with cats, so we can’t say for certain how he’d react. A slow, supervised introduction would be best if there are cats in the home.

Does Louie get along with other dogs?

He sure does. Louie loves playing with dogs of all sizes at the dog park — although he’s not the biggest fan of German Shepherds.

Where is Louie located?

Louie is currently being fostered in Norwood, Massachusetts, not far from Boston. He can be adopted by families located within a reasonable driving distance.

Why is Louie being rehomed?

Louie’s current owner loves him deeply but lives alone and does not have a fenced yard. Louie is much larger than expected, and he needs more room, activity, and social time than she can provide on her own. This decision was made with Louie’s best interest at heart.

What kind of home is Louie looking for?

Louie would thrive in a home with a fenced yard and ideally more than one person to share the love. He would do great with children and would enjoy having another dog companion. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and full of love to give.

Does Louie have any special needs?

Louie has some anxiety around grooming and vet visits. With patience and positive reinforcement, he does just fine — but he’ll need a family who’s gentle and understanding in those moments.
