Meet Cooper — San Diego’s Most Lovable Low-Rider
If you’ve never met a dog who could make you laugh, cry, and crave salmon kibble all in one afternoon… allow us to introduce Cooper.
Page Menu

He’s got the heart of a hero, the body of a very buff sausage, and the nose of a detective who takes his job extremely seriously. Cooper isn’t just a dog — he’s a walking cartoon character with soulful eyes and a belly that’s been known to balloon to cartoonish proportions after a “whoopsie” snack incident (more on that in a moment).
But first — imagine this: you come home from a long day. The world’s been loud. You’re tired. You open the door and there’s Cooper, trotting toward you like a living stuffed animal with ears that could sweep your floors and eyes that say, “You’ve been missed every single second.” He flops at your feet, gives a big hound sigh, rolls over dramatically, and stares at you until the belly rubs begin. This is not optional. This is Cooper Law.
At seven years old, Cooper is the perfect mix of chill and cheeky. He’ll sleep all day like a pro napper training for a snooze marathon, but the second you grab his leash, he turns into a sturdy little tank ready for patrol duty. His favorite job? Marching the perimeter of your front fence like he’s guarding Buckingham Palace, sniffing out neighborhood squirrels and the occasional suspicious plastic bag.
And the food? Oh, the food.
Cooper loves food the way a poet loves words — completely, passionately, and without limits. One time, left to his own devices, he devoured nearly an entire bag of dog food. His belly swelled up like he swallowed a beach ball. His humans rushed home to find him waddling around like a sausage roll with legs, deeply satisfied and deeply full. (Don’t worry, the vet gave him a gold star for resilience and a stern warning about portion control.)
This boy is clever. Trainable. Deeply loyal. His humans describe him as a sweetheart with a stubborn streak — but that’s just Basset code for “I hear you, I’m just choosing not to listen unless snacks are involved.”
So why is this lovable lump of loyalty looking for a new home?
With heavy hearts, Cooper’s family has made the difficult decision to rehome him due to growing tensions with their other dog. They’ve worked with professional trainers, tried everything they could, but with a baby on the way, they can’t risk future conflict. This isn’t about blame. It’s about love — deep love — and wanting what’s best for everyone, including the dog who once made them laugh through tears with his post-binge belly.
Cooper’s Dream Home?
Simple. One where he’s the only pet and treated like the four-legged royalty he believes he is. He’s great with kids, fully house-trained, crate-trained, and always ready for a walk, a nap, or a second (okay, third) breakfast.
If you’re someone who talks to your pets like they’re people… if you appreciate a little stubbornness wrapped in velvet ears… if you want a dog who’ll be your shadow, your sentry, your snuggle buddy — Cooper is ready to report for duty.
Apply to adopt him.
He’s waiting to meet the person who will love him as fiercely and unconditionally as he’s loved before.
Because Cooper? He’s not just a dog. He’s a storybook character come to life — and he’s ready to turn the page to his next great adventure… with you.

Cooper’s Personality
Cooper is a great dog. He loves to chill and sleep for the majority of the day. When we take him outside, he likes to patrol the fence to make sure everyone is guarded. He enjoys cuddles from his human and absolutely loves food.
Cooper’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
We give Cooper the Salmon flavored Blue Buffalo dog food, but the little guy will eat anything. He eats very fast and loves any type of food. He’s a machine.
His favorite activity is patrolling the front fence and going on walks of any duration.
Cute Cooper Story:
One that comes to mind, related for his love for food, is when he gobbled up almost an entire bag of dog food when we were away. My wife and I came home and noticed that the dog food bag we left out had been absolutely obliterated, only a few cups of food left behind.
We looked at Cooper and saw his whole belly was the size of a large balloon. So big that his belly was about a half inch from the floor. At the time, my wife and I were worried and called the vet. They confirmed that he would be alright. The pure site of the guy was a site to see.
He is normally very muscular and slim and to see him as big as he was still amazes me. He really loves his food.
Why is Cooper Being Rehomed?
We’ve had Cooper for over 3 years now and he was our 2nd dog in the house. Up until recently, Cooper has had dominance issues with our other dog.
My wife and I are starting to plan for children and we do not want to risk a dominance battle with our future child in the middle. We cant take that risk.
This has been incredibly hard to come to this decision. We have been doing personalize training for over 6 months to try and avoid this.
Cooper’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
He must be the only pet in the house. Other than that, I think he can fit comfortably in most homes. I want to make sure the people who adopt him will love him as much as we do.
I just want to know that he has a good home and that he’s going good and adjusting.

What does Cooper eat?
Cooper enjoys Blue Buffalo Salmon kibble, but let’s be honest — he’ll eat pretty much anything. He eats fast and with passion, so a slow feeder is a great idea.
What are Cooper’s favorite things?
Food, belly rubs, patrolling the yard, more food, and hanging out with his people. He’s a simple guy with simple (and hilarious) tastes.
Does Cooper have any funny or endearing quirks?
