Looking for a Pembroke Welsh Corgi dog for adoption in Vancouver, BC? Choji would love to be considered for the position of your cherished family companion.

Meet Choji — The Little Dog with the Big Personality (and Even Bigger Heart)

If joy had short legs and a foxlike grin, it would look exactly like Choji. With his stubby Corgi stride, ears that seem to pick up interdimensional signals, and a heart bursting with enthusiasm, Choji is the kind of dog who could turn even the gloomiest day into a comedy special. He greets every sunrise like it’s the premiere of his own show — “Good morning, world! You’re welcome for my presence!”

But don’t let the swagger fool you — beneath that confident Corgi exterior is a tender, loyal soul who loves his people with every ounce of his fuzzy being. He’s the dog who’ll make you laugh one moment, melt your heart the next, and remind you why life’s better when shared with a best friend who wags instead of worries.

A True Companion — Equal Parts Goofball and Genius

Choji isn’t just smart — he’s Corgi smart. The kind of dog who learns new tricks faster than you can Google “How to train a genius dog.” He thrives on having a “job” to do — fetching, herding, hiking, guarding his favorite toys, or supervising your every move with that royal Corgi stare that says, “You’re doing great, human, but I’d do it better.”

When he’s not busy being your four-legged life coach, Choji loves adventures — long hikes, car rides (he’s an absolute pro traveler), and camping trips where he can zoom around nature like a tiny, tan tornado of happiness. Toss him a ball, and you’ll see pure, unfiltered joy — his version of a standing ovation.

A Little Quirk, A Lot of Love

Like many artists of great passion, Choji has… opinions. He can be reactive around other dogs — not out of malice, but because he’s the kind of guy who feels everything deeply. The world excites him, sometimes a bit too much. But with structure, patience, and maybe a big yard to stretch those royal legs, he thrives.

He’s happiest when he’s your one and only (no cats or dogs, please — His Majesty prefers the solo spotlight). He’s crate-trained, housebroken, and has a sensitive tummy that’s well-managed with his special food. In the right home — one that values his quirks as much as his charms — Choji will flourish into the affectionate, confident little hero he was always meant to be.

Why He’s Looking for a New Castle

Choji’s humans adore him — you can hear it in every word they say. But life has changed, and they know deep down he deserves more time, space, and calm than they can give right now. With heavy hearts and hopeful spirits, they’re helping Choji find his next great adventure — one where he can be loved, understood, and cherished like the treasure he is.

Your New Best Friend Awaits

If you’ve ever dreamed of having a best friend who makes you laugh daily, keeps your secrets, and joins you in life’s biggest (and silliest) moments, Choji is waiting for you. He’s not just looking for an owner — he’s looking for his person. Someone who sees the sparkle behind those bright brown eyes and thinks, “Yes. That’s my dog.”

Open your heart, lace up your hiking shoes, and get ready for a lifetime of loyalty, laughter, and love. Choji is ready to meet his forever human — could it be you?

They enjoy playing chase, but don’t react when Choji gets over-excited. He has a tendency to play roughly and obsessively bark at other dogs, and has occasionally nipped at them while playing. While taking him out, he is reactive with other dogs on leash, barking at other dogs that are within approximately a 20-foot distance. Choji also has the tendency to resource guard one of his female owners. In these situations, Choji has gotten into fights with other dogs while his female owner was caring for him alone.

Choji’s Personality

Choji is a loving, high-energy, and intelligent dog who forms deep attachments to his caregivers. He is an affectionate companion who actively seeks attention, loves pets, snuggles, and will soak up all the adoration he receives—especially from people he meets out on walks.
He has spent the majority of his life in inner-city areas (Calgary and Vancouver) however, the he does not do well with the hustle and bustle of a city, and would be better suited in the suburbs or quite towns/ rural areas with lots of space to run about. Choji is very friendly with people and absolutely loves to play, with fetch being his favourite activity.

Choji’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Hiking, fetch, and all types of balls, he absolutely loves. He is soooo food motivated; he essentially only gets kibble, which works just as well for training and rewards. He also loves having a ‘job’ to do. He thrives when hiking, camping, or adventuring in nature.

Cute Choji Story:

Everything he does is stupid cute. However, one time, we were experimenting with the dog buttons, which play our recorded voices. One evening, a few of us (humans) were playing a board game on the floor. The game went on for a while, when suddenly, we heard “Choji Play.” We all went silent and turned to see Choji looking over his shoulder, with his paw on the button, staring us down. We like to think he was excited by everyone having fun and wanted to play too.

Why is Choji Being Rehomed?

Choji requires owners who have the capacity to handle a reactive, high-stress dog. We do not have the time and capacity to provide him with the attention he deserves. He is most calm and regulated when he has space to run around and accompany his owners on yard work or nature walks. I travel every week, and my partner is now attending school full-time and working. We are working hard to continue providing him with the attention, training, and environment he needs and deserves. Still, we are facing the reality of the situation and trying to think of what’s best for him.

Choji’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

We are seeking someone with the ability to care for a reactive dog; ideally, they have experience with reactive dogs. We hope someone can provide him with adventures and playtime, but has the patience and resources to love him in all the ways he needs. Having lots of yard space would be really great for him. Additionally, he does much better in more rural areas. As he is reactive, inner-city Vancouver is overstimulating for him.

We have his complete veterinary patient records in a PDF document from our veterinarian and are happy to provide them.
