His absolute favorite thing? Being with his people. Preferably sitting on them.
By day, Henri is a playful adventurer. He lives for beach trips, dog park zoomies, backyard wrestling matches, and a good game of hide-and-seek on walks (yes, he will absolutely pretend not to see you just to make it more dramatic). He adores other dogs and would thrive with a playful medium-to-large canine buddy who can match his energy and help keep him happily occupied.
By evening, though? That’s when you see his softer side. When the stimulation fades and the house grows quiet, Henri transforms into a calm, cuddly giant who just wants to lean into you and soak up affection. He loves to sit close—sometimes comically close—and be part of the family rhythm. It’s in those quieter moments that you truly see what a sweetheart he is.
Henri was brought home with loving hopes that he would become a calming support companion for a child with special needs. His family has poured time, love, and training into him. Unfortunately, life hasn’t unfolded the way they had hoped. Henri’s size, exuberance, and anxiety have proven to be more than their young family can safely manage—especially with his tendency to get overstimulated and his complete lack of awareness that he is, in fact, a very large dog.
This decision has been made with heartbreak, not convenience. His family loves him dearly. They simply recognize that Henri deserves an environment better suited to his needs.
It’s important to know that Henri is not a “plug and play” dog. He’s intelligent, energetic, and sometimes anxious. He hasn’t had formal obedience classes, though he has worked with a trainer. He will benefit greatly from continued structure, clear boundaries, and positive reinforcement training. He is also prone to pica, meaning he may chew or swallow items like socks or household objects if given the opportunity—so a tidy home and attentive management are essential.
He is allergic to chicken and may have early signs of hip dysplasia, so his future family should be committed to appropriate diet management and ongoing veterinary care.
In return? Henri will give you loyalty that feels heroic. He will greet you like you’ve returned from a year at sea, even if you just took out the trash. He will make you laugh. He will keep you active. He will curl up beside you at night and sigh the kind of contented sigh that makes everything feel right in the world.

We originally got Henri to be a calm support dog for our daughter with special needs. Due to barking, anxiousness and pica it has become too much for our family.

-Family without small toys or young children (even though Henri does love kids, he can become too hyper)
-Someone who has another medium to large size dog to play with and to keep him busy and out of trouble.
-Someone who loves to go on adventures and is active
We originally got Henri to be a calming companion for our daughter with special needs. Our landlords do not allow dogs so my parents agreed to keep him at their house (they live a short walk away) and we would do training together and take turns caring for him. This is one of the hardest decisions we have had to make. We are heartbroken but we feel like Henri deserves a better life than we can give him
