Hobbes is being placed for adoption by owner for the following reasons:

Hobbes family dynamic has changed drastically from when he was an adorable little curly blonde puppy. With the addition of small children to his home, Hobbes is just not receiving the level of attention and exercise he is used to. Hobbes used to run almost every day, at least 3 km – now he is lucky if he gets two runs a week.

Hobbes also has some issues around resource guarding, and small children just do not understand that when Hobbes has something he dearly values, it is important to leave him alone.

Hobbes owners love him very much and want the best for him. They realize that his needs are not being met, and want to give him the chance to once again be the center of the universe for dog lovers who will cherish him and keep him safe, happy, healthy and well-loved.

Hobbes goldendoodle adoption grand prairie ab 9Hobbes’s Personality

1. If it wasn’t for Hobbes, I wouldn’t have discovered my love of running – Running was the only way to burn off all his puppy energy when he was younger. He trained for a trail marathon with me and kept me safe in the bush on all my runs.
2. He’s adorable – I get endless complements on him when he’s out for a walk. I’ve even had people yell “I love your dog” out the window as they drive by!
3. He loves to snuggle.
4. He’s hilarious to watch jump at the back fence when people walk on the path behind our house. We’ve seen people pull out their phones and video him bouncing up and down at them. It’s comical.

Hobbes’s Current Home Environment

Hobbes has free reign of the main level of our house. On warm days, he has access to a dog door to come and go to the back yard. Otherwise, he has a bell that he rings on the back door to tell us that he needs to be let out. We have a decent size yard with a walking path behind it. Hobbes loves to jump at the fence. Hobbes loves to sleep on couches and beds. Our home is clean – except for the kids toys which make a minefield across the floor. Our home environment can be loud (the kids) but is typically a happy, easy going place.

Hobbes’s Current Family:

My husband and I are high school sweethearts. We grew up together in a little mountain town. We got Hobbes shortly after we got married. I’m now a nurse and my husband is an HVAC technician. We moved to a city not far from our town and we enjoy getting back to the mountains for camping, hiking, quadding, and other such adventures.

Hobbes was always a part of these adventures. We now have two children, a toddler boy and a baby girl. Our son loves drumming and playing with toy cars. Our daughter loves climbing everything. When I’m not on mat leave, I work very casually now, so there is usually always people around with Hobbes.

Hobbes’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

He’s eaten “Royal Canin Large Breed Dog Food” since he turned one years old. We just switched to “Royal Canin Large Breed Sensitive Skin Dog Food” this past month. We don’t intentionally feed him people food as he had some diarrhea issues as a puppy. We try and stick with natural type dog treats.

Favorite activities – walks, bike rides, runs, swimming in a lake, rolling in the snow or mud, cuddling, chasing snowballs or sticks (he doesn’t bring them back).

Hobbes’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Hobbes would do well with an active family. People who love to bike, hike, run, and be outdoors. Hobbes needs someone who needs an exercise companion.

Hobbes needs someone who wants to snuggle a massive fluffy puppy. Hobbes needs a yard to play in and a couch to sleep on. Hobbes is hypoallergenic (poodle cross) so could be suited for families with mild allergies (he does have a small amount of shedding which did set off my friend with severe allergies).   Hobbes needs a family who has the time to love on him. We just want Hobbes to be happy and loved.
