Looking for an Australian Shepherd Border Collie mix dog for adoption in Calgary, Alberta? Rusty would love to be considered for the position of your cherished family companion.

Meet Rusty: The Fluff-Tornado of Love You Didn’t Know You Needed (Until Now)

Imagine opening your door to find a chestnut-and-cream whirlwind of fluff, joy, and unfiltered enthusiasm bounding toward you — tail spinning like a propeller, one ear pointed sky-high, the other flopped like it’s too cool to try. That’s Rusty. And if you’re not smiling yet, give it a second. He’ll fix that.

Rusty is a 3-year-old Border Collie–Australian Shepherd mix (probably with a splash of something elegantly mysterious) who looks like he trotted straight out of a dog-food commercial — you know, the kind where the dog runs through a field in slow motion while the sun catches every glossy strand of fur. He’s as striking as he is snuggly, with soulful golden eyes and a heart that lives permanently on his very fluffy sleeve.

He’s a master of greetings (expect a full face wash and some bonus tap dancing), a pro at kids’ games (dress-up? Absolutely. Rusty once wore a tutu and took it like a champ), and a certified cuddle therapist by evening. Got a couch? Rusty’s on it. Got a bad day? Rusty’s fixing it — preferably with his signature combo of warm snuggles and oinking rubber pig.

Now, Rusty does have one Achilles’ heel: anything with wheels except cars. Bikes, scooters, rollerblades — in Rusty’s book, these are suspicious creatures best barked at from a safe distance. But don’t worry — he’s working on it. With patience, love, and maybe a few freeze-dried beef liver treats, he’s learning that not every wheeled object is plotting evil.

So why is this perfect blend of protector, comedian, and cuddlebug looking for a new home? It’s not because he’s done anything wrong. Far from it. His family loves him dearly — but life threw them a curveball. One of the children developed a dog allergy, and their busy schedules just aren’t fair to a high-energy, high-love pup like Rusty. They’re making the heartbreaking decision to rehome him not because they want to — but because they want better for him.

And better could be you.

Rusty dreams of a home with room to roam — a big yard, or better yet, a farm where he can herd imaginary sheep (or real ones, if you’ve got them). He needs someone who sees his quirks not as problems, but as puzzles to solve together. Someone who will cheer him on as he bravely learns to coexist with bicycles, and someone who will never underestimate the power of a good belly rub.

If you’re looking for a fiercely loyal sidekick with movie-star good looks, a heart bigger than his ears (and have you seen those ears?), and the kind of love that changes your whole day — Rusty’s waiting.

Apply to adopt Rusty today. He’s ready to be your greatest decision ever.
