Meet Beau – The Cutest Adoptable Aussie in Arkansas

Looking for an Australian Shepherd dog for adoption near Little Rock in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas? Meet Beau — a stunning senior Aussie with the heart of a teddy bear, the soul of a best friend, and just enough goofball energy to keep you smiling every single day.

At 10 years young, Beau has perfected the fine art of loving his people with his whole entire heart. He’ll follow you from room to room like a soft, furry little shadow, lean against your legs for affection, and happily flop over for belly rubs as if he’s been waiting all day just for your attention.

Part cuddlebug, part loyal sidekick, and part oversized lap dog trapped in an Australian Shepherd body, Beau is the kind of dog who makes a house feel like home. He’s playful without being wild, quiet unless someone comes to the door, wonderful with children, and still full of life, love, and hilarious little personality quirks that make him unforgettable. Beau adores toys, believes stuffed animals were specifically invented for his entertainment, and has mastered the art of melting hearts with a single look.

His family loves him deeply, which is exactly what makes this situation so heartbreaking. Due to circumstances completely beyond their control, they are facing the painful decision to find Beau — and ideally his beloved brother, Jax — a new forever home where they will continue to be treasured, adored, spoiled rotten, and loved every bit as much as they are now.

If you have been searching for an Australian Shepherd for adoption in Arkansas and hoping to find a dog with excellent manners, a loving temperament, and enough devotion to fill your heart to overflowing, Beau may just be the dog you’ve been waiting for.

Beau’s Personality

Beau is a sweet, affectionate Australian Shepherd who is happiest close to his people. He has a loving, loyal nature and enjoys being part of family life.

Like many dogs, Beau gets nervous during vet and grooming visits, so his family helps him relax beforehand. At home, he is friendly, loving, and easy to enjoy.

Beau has spent his life with his brother, Jax, and the two are very closely bonded. They love playing tug-of-war together and racing around outside to catch a rope. Because they have been together since puppyhood, the family would be especially happy to see Beau and Jax adopted together if the right home is found.

Beau is friendly with people and has been around grandchildren of all ages without any issues.

Beau’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Beau loves his huge squeaky eggplant and corn toys, along with just about any stuffed animal he can get his teeth on.

He eats Blue Buffalo chicken and rice, with 1 cup in the morning and about 3/4 cup in the evening. He also gets a Milk-Bone at bedtime when crated.

Cute Beau Story:

Beau came from a show dog family in Bentonville, AR.

He is a devoted companion who watches his people closely and loves to follow his favorite person from room to room. Beau also lives with an older 7-pound Chihuahua, and he tries to invite him to play by getting into a playful downward-dog position, wagging his nub, and occasionally letting out a bark at the little one — who, of course, is very much in charge.

More than anything, Beau wants affection. He shows his love by leaning into you, staying close, and happily flopping over for belly rubs.

Why is Beau Being Rehomed?

Beau’s owners recently moved from Dallas to a retirement community in central Arkansas to be near family. When they purchased their home, they believed they would be able to fence the backyard for their dogs, but due to a golf course easement, that is not possible. Their yard is made of river stone rather than grass, which makes it difficult for Beau and his brother, Jax, to enjoy the kind of outdoor play they love.

Although Beau is 10 years old, he still enjoys daily playtime, outdoor activity, and games with his brother. He would be happiest in a home with safe outdoor space where he can stretch his legs, play, and enjoy life with his people.

His owners also travel for work between Arkansas, Dallas, and Virginia. Because Beau and Jax have never been boarded, the family has always hired someone to stay in their home with them, which has become increasingly difficult and expensive.

This has been an extremely hard decision for Beau’s family. He is a healthy, housebroken, crate-trained, well cared for dog who has had regular annual vet visits, current immunizations, and no sick visits in 10 years. His owners love him deeply, but they feel he and Jax deserve a home better suited to their needs.

Beau’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Beau’s ideal home will be with someone who will love him into his older years, keep him safe, and include him as a cherished member of the family.

He would do best in a home with room for daily walks, playtime, and safe outdoor activity. Because Beau’s world has mostly centered around home and family life, patient introductions would be best with any unfamiliar pets. A calm home with no cats and a thoughtful, loving routine would be ideal.

Beau and Jax are closely bonded brothers, so a home willing to adopt them together would be especially wonderful.
