Shabelle was the kind of kitten who didn’t just join a family — he studied each person like a puzzle and learned exactly how to fit. For the rambunctious sibling? He was all leaps and chases. For the quiet aunt recovering from a stroke? He transformed into a gentle presence, purring beside her like a warm, watchful soul. For everyone else? Toe-attacks, ambush kisses, and deeply affectionate headbutts. His love is personal. He matches your mood, mirrors your energy, and somehow always knows when you need a little more warmth.
And oh, the cuddles. He’s not a “maybe” cuddler. He’s a daily, repeat offender kind of cuddler. The kind who presses his little face into your neck while purring like a living engine, then does it again two hours later — just in case you forgot how much he adores you.
But the thing about love — real love — is that it sometimes means letting go when it hurts. Shabelle’s family never imagined rehoming him. But when one member began developing worsening asthma symptoms directly triggered by his presence, the heartbreaking truth became clear. Despite HEPA filters, special shampoo, and everything they could think of, being near him became a health risk. And because they love him so deeply, they’re choosing what’s best for him, even when it breaks their hearts.
So here we are: looking for the kind of home that gets him. A home that won’t be surprised when he meows outside the bathroom door like you’ve disappeared into another dimension. A home that doesn’t just tolerate a high-energy kitten, but delights in one. Someone who laughs at his goofy antics, but also understands his sensitive soul.
He’s bright, vocal, wonderfully clingy, and wildly curious. He’ll chase wand toys with the enthusiasm of a tiny lion and then settle down like a sweet little spoon in the crook of your arm. He doesn’t like closed doors. He doesn’t like bland food. He does like cardboard boxes, tunnels, and anything that crinkles. He’s litter trained, incredibly affectionate, and possibly part mind-reader.
What he needs now is someone to make him feel at home again. Someone who understands that Bengals aren’t background cats — they’re front-and-center, in-your-face, paw-on-your-heart companions. He needs a cat-savvy adopter (Bengal experience would be lovely), and a family that has the time, energy, and love to give him the life he deserves.
His current family would love to stay in touch if you’re open to it — not to intrude, but simply because they’re letting go of someone they love very much, and it would mean the world to know he’s thriving.
So if your heart just skipped a little reading this… if you’re smiling thinking about a kitten who might race you to the laundry room just because it’s fun… if you want a companion who’s more of a soulmate than a pet — then Shabelle might be waiting just for you.
Come meet the wild-hearted cuddlebug who’s ready to pounce his way into your life. He’s in Edmonton, Alberta — but love knows no limits.

There have been countless days where he’ll cuddle right up to you when you’re feeling ill or down. I love his boundless energy and his love for being a part of the action when we’re all home.
But to summarize and list all 5 things:

Shabelle’s Personality
He’s an extremely curious cat who loves exploring new places and things. He has learnt to deal with each family member differently and is always quick to be a part of the what is going on in the house.
He’s extremely affectionate and will cuddle with us at multiple times during the day and night purring all the while. Teaching him tricks is a blast for all of us, including him, as he picks it up very quickly and always surprises us by remembering them without clicker training.
He can be clingy and can meow a lot with closed doors, but generally he is a well behaved cat that learns quite quickly.
Shabelle’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
He loves wands, hide and seek, tag, tunnel tubes, and any string or magnetic thing that you pull around, but nothing beats a good cardboard box or a reusable bag. His favourite foods, usually the only food he likes to eat (trust me we’ve tried switching him to others to no avail) purina gravy feast salmon, tuna and chicken breast wet food and purina friskies chef’s blend. Saying that he does try to eat other things but not the way he eats those ones.
Cute Shabelle Story:
There are so many! But I think the one that stands out the most is how he treats my aunt. She had a stroke and has trouble with her right side. He lets her play and he’s extremely gentle with her. He’ll never swipe at her or nib at her and if he does it’s only to tap her gently to let her know he’s overstimulated. He is quite gentle with everyone else but my aunt gets extra cuddles and sweetness from him compared to the rest of us.
Why is Shabelle Being Rehomed?
I wish we didn’t have to rehome him to be honest but I’ve gotten asthmatic symptoms from being around him and through doctor’s orders have been told to rehome him. Despite using HEPA filters, giving him a bath more often with dander free shampoo and trying to change his food, it’s gotten worse. Just being around where he’s been triggers it. I just want to know if he can’t stay with us at least he’ll go to a family that loves him as much or more than we already do.
Shabelle’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
A family that’s had experience with cats (bengals are good option as well). Despite us loving him I feel like we don’t give him the right amount of exercise he needs so an active family would be amazing if not someone or a family that’s willing to be patient with him and truly get to know him.
I’d love to keep in touch as he’s like family but I think that’ll be up to the adoptive family to see if they’re comfortable with that contact.

❓ Shabelle’s Adoption FAQ
What breed is Shabelle?
Shabelle is a Bengal kitten — a breed known for their stunning markings, high energy, and strong bonds with their humans. Bengals are often described as part cat, part jungle explorer, and part shadow — always nearby, always curious.
How old is Shabelle?
Shabelle is currently 7 months old — still in that delightful kitten phase where everything is new, exciting, and a little bit chaotic (in the best way).
Where is Shabelle located?
He’s in Edmonton, Alberta, but can be adopted by someone in any nearby city or town including St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Beaumont, Leduc, and surrounding areas.
Why is Shabelle being rehomed?
Shabelle’s current owner has developed asthma symptoms triggered by his presence. Despite trying air purifiers, special shampoos, and other measures, the symptoms have worsened. Rehoming him is a heartbreaking but necessary decision made out of love and concern for everyone’s well-being — including his.
Is Shabelle healthy?
Yes! He is a healthy, active, and affectionate kitten with no known medical issues. He’s up to date on vaccinations and has been well cared for since kittenhood.
Is he neutered?
No, Shabelle has not yet been neutered. That will be the responsibility of his new owner, and we recommend doing so at the appropriate age as advised by your veterinarian.
Is Shabelle good with other pets?
He hasn’t lived with other cats or dogs, so it’s unknown how he would respond to them. However, with proper introductions, his adaptable and curious nature may help him adjust.
Is Shabelle litter trained?
Yes! He is fully litter trained and uses his box reliably.
What’s his personality like?
Shabelle is playful, affectionate, talkative, and smart. He’s got a lot of energy, a strong need for attention, and a very tender side — especially with people who need a little extra love. He forms strong attachments and loves to be where the action is.
Does Shabelle come with any supplies?
Yes! His family is sending him with a litter box, toys, a cat tree, grooming supplies, food to ease the transition, and even a travel carrier. They’re happy to provide anything else needed to make his move successful.
What kind of home is best for Shabelle?
A cat-savvy home — ideally with Bengal experience — that can give him daily stimulation and lots of love. He needs space to explore, people to engage with, and someone who won’t mind the occasional enthusiastic meow when a door is closed. A patient, active family (or individual) would be his perfect match.
Can I meet Shabelle before adopting?
Yes! Once we receive your adoption application and it’s approved, we’ll arrange a meet-and-greet with his current family so you can fall in love in person.
