Looking for a Doberman Pinscher Border Collie Mix Dog to adopt in Dallas, TX? Just 1 year old and weighing 65 lbs, Kya is a beautiful, healthy, sweet and devoted young dog looking for a family with a home sporting a large, securely fenced yard. This pretty dog has been spayed, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, housebroken and obedience trained. She is friendly with people of all ages and sizes, including small children. She gets along well with other dogs, too. In a word, Kya is AMAZING! She’s super smart, very devoted, absolutely brave and will make one lucky family the best companion ever!
Kya’s only issue is reactivity to other dogs when she is on a leash. She gets along very well with her dog friends when off leash, but this one idiosyncrasy makes it necessary to find her a new home. Currently, she lives in an apartment with her owner, a young woman who works long hours. With so many other dogs in close proximity, having to keep Kya on a leash when leaving and returning to the apartment has resulted in Kya appearing to be a very aggressive dog (which she is not).

Her owner is devastated by having to rehome Kya, but has no choice but to do so because of the leash reactivity. She is dearly hoping to find a new home for Kya where this very special dog will be cherished and kept safe, happy, and healthy for life.

She is very well trained, and just needs a family who live in a house with a large, securely fenced back yard for her to enjoy, rather than having to be taken for walks in close proximity to other dogs.

Kya’s Personality
She is the sweetest dog and listens very well inside and in less stressful environments. She is friendly with dogs off leash and would be perfectly fine in a home with other dogs. She is friendly with all people including children (unsure about cats) She is potty trained, crate trained, and knows many commands including sit, down, wait, stay, here, kennel, shake, off, and knows heel but working on her staying in heel position. She is a very happy dog and does everything you ask of her enthusiastically. (For the next question she is leash trained besides her reactivity)
Why is Kya Being Rehomed?
She is very reactive to other dogs on leash. She went to training for it for over 2 months and did well at the trainer’s house, but I live in an apartment where it isn’t possible to keep her far enough away from other dogs. We have had multiple close calls in apartment hallways where it has taken everything I could do to keep her from getting to another dog. Her behavior is getting constantly worse in this environment and she needs a house with a backyard and a neighborhood where she can cross the street to get away from other dogs when walking. If moving into a house was a possibility for me within the next year I would keep her, but it will be multiple years before I would be able to.
