The Skye Terrier is a Scottish import, originating on the Isle of Skye, where the breed derived it’s name. A small but plucky terrier, the Skye Terrier has been a favorite among royalty and commoners alike since it’s inception in the early 1500’s. Not well known as terrier dog breeds go, the Skye Terrier has a smaller following than other terriers of it’s ilk, such as the Cairn Terrier and Scottish Terrier. Fanciers find the Skye Terrier to be an amiable housedog that is good with well-behaved children, and gets along pretty well with other family pets. The Skye is also a great watchdog.
