French bulldog frenchie for adoption austin tx adopt sophie
Looking for a French Bulldog (Frenchie) dog to adopt in Austin, Texas? If you have room in your heart and home for Sweet Sophie, she will fill your life with joy and laughter. This healthy older dog is 11 years old and weighs 20-25 lbs. Sophie is what we consider to be a “ready to love dog” – she has been spayed, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, crate trained, leash trained and house trained. Sophie is good with children and adults, other dogs and dog-friendly cats.

Sophie’s owner is devastated at having to rehome her dog, but there is no other feasible choice. Sophie has always had other dogs around her when her humans aren’t home. Things have really changed in her home in the past couple of years; her Mom is divorced, her dog friend passed away, and Sophie got used to having her Mom home with her 24/7 when the pandemic hit.

Now Mom has to go back to work involving a lot of travel, and Sophie isn’t able to handle being home alone. She, like many older dogs, has developed separation anxiety, and is absolutely miserable when left home by herself. She cries and paces the entire time.

The best solution for Sophie is to find a home with a retired couple or a senior dog lover who can be with her  most of the time. Sophie loves to go in the car, so can easily be taken along on errands and outings where she won’t have to be left in the car too long. Sophie has so much love and companionship to offer. She needs to find a new home  where she will be cherished and kept safe, happy, and healthy for the many remaining years of her life.

Sophie’s Personality

Sophie is sweet and sassy. She loves to get belly rubs and stare into your eyes with love. She loves to go outside but not for long. She is not an athletic dog and is very easy-going and happy on the couch or in her bed. She has been spoiled her whole life BUT she does listen to commands and she is a very good dog and responds well to commands. She cannot go to dog parks because it is too much for her. Sophie is socialized but more 1:1 intro to other dogs is best. She loves to greet every human at the door upon arrival and she demands her pets before retiring to the living area to listen to the humans. she does do well on her leash/harness and loves car rides. I think she is obsessed with her food.

Why is Sophie Being Rehomed?

I have had her for her life and she is appx 11 yr old now. When I got her we had multiple dogs, a young family, and others were always around. Then my child grew up, my husband left me with 3 dogs, and i had to move to an apartment and i have a demanding job but my son has always helped me a ton and i use sitters, etc.. I sent the youngest dog to my family where he lived for his lifetime and I kept 2.

My oldest dog passed away 3 years ago and it has been Just Sophie and me, since. COVID came and I no longer had to travel or go to an office. This created deep co-dependency along with our bond. Well now…I have to travel again for work, my personal life is getting back to a normal state, and I have no help with family or time to give her what she needs. She needs people, dogs, attention. Her separation anxiety is sad and difficult.

She has now started peeing everywhere and all the time if I leave even for an hour. When I am home, zero issues. I have been putting a diaper on her if I have to leave and she does okay with that. Crating her is fine but she cries harder/longer if she is not left to roam free and look out of the door glass for me. I was not aware of how bad this had become until I got a dog camera to be able to throw her treats.

Sadly, I am unable to provide her with the quality of life she should be living any longer. I am deeply saddened and have delayed it for a long time now. I have tried everything and it is becoming a new financial burden with the pet sitters, and property damage. I know she can be happy in a new home and someone will love her to pieces. She truly is loved by everyone and is so sweet.

I will pay for whatever is needed to help her transition to a loving home for the remainder of her life. She is very healthy and I believe the food has helped with her longevity immensely. Her vet checks are regular and always good reports. She has many years left in life and I want her to enjoy them!
