Jax is a 9.5-year-old Havanese with soulful eyes, a quirky head tilt, and a quiet kind of charm that sneaks up on you. He’s not flashy. He’s not needy. He’s just… there. Softly devoted. Calmly present. The kind of dog who always keeps you in his line of sight, even if he’s dozing upside down in his bed like a fluffy cinnamon bun.
He’s been with his family since their kids were small, and while he’s always been gentle and good with them, his heart belongs to one person — usually the mom — and that’s where he’s happiest. As life got busier and louder (teenagers, school, constant motion), it became clear that what Jax truly craves is something simpler: a calm home, a predictable rhythm, and one or two humans to bond with fully.
So, with love and thoughtfulness, his family is helping him find that next chapter — one where he gets to be someone’s whole world instead of just part of the hustle and bustle.
Jax doesn’t ask for much. A soft place to nap. A short walk (or a big hike, if you’re up for it). A backyard sunbeam. A cheese cube from time to time. And someone kind and quiet to belong to. He’s not into toys, not overly food-driven, and definitely not the life of the party — unless, of course, the party involves opening the cheese drawer. Then he’s front and center.
He’s great in his kennel (he considers it his personal condo), sleeps like a dream, and can comfortably go hours without needing to go outside. He does bark when people come to the door — it’s his job, after all — but he settles quickly and returns to his preferred role as house supervisor and loyal watcher-of-things.
If you’re an older adult, a single person, or a low-key couple looking for a mellow little companion who prefers calm over chaos and quiet over clamor — Jax just might be your perfect match.

Jax’s Personality
Jax is a calm, easygoing companion who brings a sense of peace wherever he goes. True to his Havanese roots, he forms a close bond with his person — in his current home, that’s been Mom — and thrives most when he can be near someone he trusts. While he’s lived happily in a family with children, his ideal environment is a quieter home where he can enjoy one-on-one companionship and a slower pace.
He doesn’t need much to be content. A short stroll for bathroom breaks suits him just fine, though he absolutely lights up on a trail — hiking is one of his favorite things in the world. He’s wonderful off-leash in quiet areas and enjoys being outside in nature. At home, he’s relaxed and perfectly happy to snooze in his soft bed, his kennel (which he genuinely loves), or beside you.
Jax is housetrained, crate-trained, and perfectly capable of going several hours without needing to be let out. He’s not high-energy or high-maintenance — just a mellow, sweet little guy who appreciates the quiet joys in life.
When visitors come to the door, Jax will give a few enthusiastic barks — he takes his watchdog duties seriously — but he settles down quickly once he knows everything’s okay. He’s been comfortable around small to medium-sized dogs and has lived with children, though he’s not overly affectionate with them. It’s less about a problem and more about preference — he’s simply happiest in a calm, adult household where he can form a deep, devoted bond.
In short: Jax is a gentle soul who’s ready to relax, hike now and then, and be someone’s loyal little shadow.
Jax’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
He doesn’t play with toys all too much.
He’s also not overly food motivated. He will eat 1-2 meals a day. He eats a mix of kibble and fresh food.
He LOVES cheese.
Lately he has been eating bully sticks and the odd bone
And he likes treats at times including liver
Cute Jax Story:
We always say he looks at the world sideways 🙂 He tips his head to the side and looks fondly at you. He always has to have line of sight to the household.
I love when he sleeps in his bed and he is upside down and looks cozy as can be.
We can’t open the cheese container without him running to the fridge! Love that about him.
Why is Jax Being Rehomed?
As a family with busy teenagers, we are looking to rehome Jax as he is better suited for an older person or single person, without the stress of having the comings and goings of a busy house.
While we love him very much, we feel he will be much happier if he has one caregiver to be close to and be cared for.
Jax’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
Jax would do best in a quiet, adult household — perhaps with a single person or a couple who appreciates a relaxed pace and a calm companion. While he enjoys short walks and absolutely loves the occasional hike, he doesn’t need a highly active lifestyle to be happy. He’s just as content lounging in a sunny backyard or curling up indoors with his favorite person nearby.
Jax is a wonderful dog with a gentle heart who would truly thrive in a home that matches his mellow energy. Someone who understands his need for companionship without high expectations for constant activity will find in him a loyal, low-maintenance friend.
He may give a few barks when someone comes to the door — he likes to announce arrivals — but he settles quickly once things calm down. In the right home, Jax will be a devoted and delightful companion, bringing quiet joy and unwavering loyalty to each day.
