Hi, My name is Monty!

Monty - amstaff english mastiff mix for adoption seattle

Meet marvelous and massive Monty – the quintessential Bull in a China Shop! Monty is an adorable English Mastiff / American Staffordshire Terrier mix. He is just 3 years old, fixed, up to date on shots and house broken.

Monty has a fawn coat with black masking and a sweet, loyal and affectionate personality. He weighs in at 110 pounds – every bit of it full of love.

Monty is looking for a loving home. His owner, a single Dad, is facing difficult circumstances that make owning and caring for a big galoot like Monty quite difficult. The owner wants Monty to have the space, exercise, care and attention he needs and very much deserves, and is hoping to find owners who will cherish him.

Monty has his good points, and a few things that could definitely use some work!

The good things:

  • He is a very cuddly and affectionate dog.
  • He is as cute as a bug’s ear.
  • He has good manners.
  • He is loyal and devoted.
  • He is a good listener.
  • His size deters would-be intruders.
  • He loves to play.
  • He is a great listener.

The not-so-good things:

  • He wants to chase cats.
  • He can accidentally knock little kids over.
  • He plays a bit too rough with other dogs.

He is such a nice boy and really would love to have a home with owners who can give him their time and attention. He needs to have a securely fenced, large yard to play in.

If you are looking for a very nice dog that is as impressive in size as he is in personality, please offer Monty a loving home today. He can’t wait to wag and wiggle his way into your heart.

Monty’s Current Home Environment

About 6 months about I moved into a home with another family as a roommate. It is a bit crowded with 3 house cats and two other smaller dogs. There is a toddler approaching 2 years old and another 2 five year old boys in the house along with 3 adults. So as you can imagine it can get hectic and there is not a lot of space for a large dog who wants to play. He has a dog run and gets outside at least once a day to run around. Because of this Monty mostly stays in my room or by my side at all times.

Monty’s Current Family:

I am a single dad who has brought his son and dog into a dear friend’s house and family. While my presence has thus far been met with gratitude, my dog’s behavior around the house cats as been a constant source of worry and anxiety.

Monty’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

He LOVES to play tug. He has an assortment of rops and sturdy rubber today that he can chew on or play tug o war with.
Running outside is always a favorite. He is good and comes when called, as long as there are no other dogs or cats around.

Cute Monty Story:

Why is Monty Being Rehomed?

He has knocked over a 1 1/2 year old toddler going after a idle (not running) house cat. This is after many month of correct training around the cats. Even though he is calm around me, if I am not in the room with him he still goes for them. Thankfully no one was injured but I was given the understandable ultimatum to rehome my dog or be out of the home myself.

Monty’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Single owner family with time to walk him daily and work on his anxiety issues around other dogs.
No cats as his prey drive is very strong
dogs are okay once he has gotten past the anxiety of the first few meet ups.
someone who keeps the cuddles up and with plenty of love.
