Adorable Orange Tabby Cat For Adoption in Calgary AB – Supplies Included – Adopt Mango

Orange Tabby Cat for Adoption in Calgary, AB

Looking for a very special Orange Tabby Cat to adopt in Calgary? Just 4 years old and weighing 10 lbs, Mango is an absolutely amazing young cat. Her light green eyes are set like gems against her vibrant tangerine coat, and she has a personality so charming that you will fall in love with her instantly when you meet her.

Mango is looking for a specific new home. She suffers from anxiety that is triggered by changes in her living situation. Mango’s best life will be lived with a senior or retired cat lover who spends most of the time at home. Mango does not do well when her owners are away for long periods of time, and needs a home where there is a strong daily routine. (She wants to know her day will be filled with love, cuddles, gentle tummy rubs and companionship).

Mango has been fixed, fully vaccinated, and litter box trained. She is calm and friendly with well behaved, older children and welcoming of visitors, but this should be kept to a moderate level.

Mango is everything you’d want in a cat – she is affectionate and social, and loves to play! This special girl is curious and friendly, and enjoys meeting new people.

Mango will make a wonderful companion with lots of years of love to give. Will you spoil Mango rotten?

Mango’s Personality

Mango is cute, and somewhat cuddly. You can hold her or wrap her in a blanket like a baby and she will chill for awhile with a big purr. She sleeps next to my son at night. Mango is curious and funny. She hangs out sleeping on couch with us sometimes, or on bed, or under bed. It varies. She is easily held when picked up. Mango luckily is super easy to give pills too.

She spent some time monitored in a rats and caught two mice! She is an indoor cat though. Mango loves balcony time or monitored yard time.

Mango loves her people. When we leave for travel it is hard on her. A well trained vet tech/cat sitter stayed with her and Mango was very friendly with her, but still got a bladder infection secondary to stress. She doesn’t meow a lot.
When we pick her up and hug her she usually just starts purring.

Mango, a typical cat, scratches furniture from time to time. She will come to front door to see who has arrived. She is not skittish or stand offish. She is the most amazing cat, but our lifestyle seems to be stressing her out, while at the same time she is sociable and bonded to us. Her specialized vet said he can tell she is always sensitive and on edge by ears and body. She’s jumpy to sudden movement or loud noises

Why is Mango Being Rehomed?

We travel frequently and it is most often (but not always) a stressor and trigger for a secondary bladder infection, which goes away with antibiotics. On recommendation by the vet, we know she needs a calmer home with less change.

Mango’s family wants to share this:

Here is Mango’s story. Two years ago (a couple months before the pandemic) we adopted Mango from the Calgary Humane Society to be an emotional support pet for my teenage son. At the time of signing to take her home, they mentioned some urinary infections and urinating outside the litter box (likely because of infections). At that point it felt we were too attached to halt the adoption because of this news! And we figured in a cat so young, she would be fine now that the infection was treated.

It turned out that while she is a sociable, loving, cuddly, and playful cat (and a good mouser!), who sleeps next to my son each night, she is a highly sensitive and anxious cat for whom busy life and change can be stressful, which you’d not easily know because she is so social. This anxiety made her urinate outside the box and also get recurrent bladder infections. We found that daily Prozac controls any urinating outside the box, but she was still getting infections. After a year of wondering what was going on, we had her checked out by a specialist vet and he determined she has feline idiopathic cystitis (inflammation of the bladder) triggered by anxiety, and made worse by stressors and change, which then sometimes trigger secondary bladder infections.
