All About Louis and Celine – Yorkshire Terrier dog For Adoption in Edmonton Alberta

Health Problems: Yes Louis has a spinal injury that requires special attention. While he thinks he is invincible and wants to run and jump around, he his wobbly. There needs to be mindfulness around him jumping off the bed/couch or doing the stairs (but he absolutely still does all these things). He is not on any meds currently, but has been on/off with anti-inflammatories and pain meds over the last 6 months, losing use of his hind legs completely a few months ago. We thought we had lost him, but he bounced back, he in gaining strength in his front to accommodate weakness in his backside! Unfortunately this likely means it is only a matter of time before his back gives out again. Will go into more detail on vet/surgeon meetings and everything that has already been done to help Louis. Essentially though, there is nothing that can be done except to love on him and accept where he’s at, knowing he could lose use of his legs again anytime and may need to be put down.
*He can have control issues and dribbles pee and can lose his bowels spontaneously, so needs to be let outside regularly and be with someone who is patient and understanding when this happens. It is not his fault. This can happen intermittently, not daily.
Behavior Issues: Yes Louis has separation anxiety and does not do well being alone. We are looking for a home where he can be with someone nearly fulltime. He is a huge snugglebug and just wants to be close to you all the time, whether sitting next to you while you work, snuggled up on the couch or alongside you in bed at night.

Louis and Celine’s Personality
Louis is small but mighty, he has a big personality, LOVES playing fetch and barking when he gets riled up. He is very smart and intuitive, very sensitive and loving. When he looks into your eyes you swear he is speaking right to your soul. He is so sweet. But he can also be annoying with his barking and hogging the ball during playtime. He can get nervous and panic (left alone, at the vet, in kennel etc).
Celine is hilarious, she’s just fun to be around. She gets revved up playing fetch. She loves to be right beside you. She’s calm as a cucumber, nothing phases her, rarely barks. She loves to eat. Will jump right into her kennel and have no problems in there. She can be defiant and poop in house if out of routine or upset. She will jump on table to get food, those this is new since baby. Never did this before. Think it can be trained out of her again.
Louis and Celine’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Louis and Celine both love the ball. Celine actually plays fetch and brings it back. Louis kind of wants you to chase him and steal the ball.
They both eat a special kibble for sensitive stomachs. Celine is definitely food driven and will eat EVERYTHING. They both love chews (like Collagen Sticks)
They are both very snuggly. They will sit snuggled up beside you literally all day and night. They do not need much exercise.
Cute Louis and Celine Story:
These two are a loving bonded pair. When Louis lost use of his back legs a few months ago we had him in a basket to carry him to the car/vet. Celine jumped right in and nestled up beside him. She was not leaving his side.
Why is Louis and Celine Being Rehomed?
These dogs were numero uno for nearly a decade, fur-babies, so spoiled. With a 1 year old daughter now and husband away for work often, they are just not receiving the attention they need.
Louis and Celine’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
We are looking for someone who is home nearly all the time and doesn’t mind two shadows (these dogs will be right beside you all the time. A calm household where the dogs will be the top priority. Preferably no children or other pets. Someone who is patient and calm. Preferably someone who would let the dogs snuggle in bed with them at night and not leave them alone much.
Would love to dog sit when needed, if the new family was open to that.
NOTE: I am the dog owners assistant and take the dogs several weeks a month. I was there when Louis lost use of his legs and have taken them to all vet appts in last 6 months. I would adopt them if I could! I just love them, but I also have a dog and work full time, so I can’t give them all the attention they need either. I will do all the preliminary work to help find them a new home. We actually may have a home for Celine, with a close friend, but want to try to adopt them together (unless you recommend not to). We are very open to all possibilities and really just looking for guidance on what’s possible. This has been a really hard decision for us all.
