Meet Ziva – Pre-Loved Black Labrador Retriever Mix For Adoption by Owner in Troutdale OR

Ziva is a Female Black Labrador Retriever mix dog for adoption to a very loving home in or near Troutdale, OR. This very special dog is 11 years old and weighs 63 pounds. Ziva loves people and is good with other pets, including dogs and cats. She is sweet and gentle with children, although it is important for children to be kind and well behaved with her, given her age and the associated aches and pains in her hips. They should never be allowed to climb on her.

5 Amazing Things About Ziva:

I love her gentle soul
I love that she and my daughters grew up together
I love going for walks and short hikes with her and watching her excitement with being outdoors
I love that she’s a princess and prefers to be dainty (i.e. sleep on a cushion or couch instead of the floor)

Ziva’s Personality (Ziva the Diva!)

Ziva is an absolute sweetheart. She loves her people and is quite bonded to me (Mom) at this point. She loves going on walks but doesn’t have a lot of stamina (she could work up to hikes if desired).

She is quirky; doesn’t like rain or moving water but loves to play in the snow, loves to chase a ball or stick but has no interest in returning it for another throw.

She chases our cat around the house then just bumps her with her nose when she catches her, she doesn’t know what to do when the cat stops and looks at her. It’s pretty funny to watch.

She gets the zoomies every time she goes potty or drinks water. It’s adorable!

She loves to snuggle on the couch and loves to be with her humans.

She is able to be alone for 8+ hours without any behavior issues if you work outside the home but prefers to be around her people.

She is good around kids of all ages but her hips can get sore so I wouldn’t allow kids to climb all over her.

She is always very excited to say hi to new humans and other animals (with the exception of Huskies and small fluffy dogs).

Ziva’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

She loves the furry animals with the squeakers but she shreds them pretty quickly
She love a good bone to gnaw on
She loves food of any kind, treats of any kind – even the ones she shouldn’t have
She loves going for walks
She loves going for car rides
She loves napping in the sun or on the couch
She loves spending time with her humans

Cute Ziva Story:

The first time I took her camping it got pretty cold and she wouldn’t sit or lay on the dirt because it was too cold. She spent the entire trip (when not going for hikes) sleeping on the cot in my sleeping bag or sitting on my lap by the fire wrapped up in a blanket. She had a bed with blankets of her own but preferred my bed. She was 53 lbs at that point, big lap dog.

Why is Ziva Being Rehomed?

We are leaving the country to travel full-time and cannot take any pets with us or we would not be rehoming her. We’ve tried everyone we know (friends and family) but they all have too many pets already.

Ziva’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

We are looking for a somewhat quiet home where Ziva can finish out her years being in a loving environment.

Preference would be sharing the home with only one or two other animals; enough for stimulation but not overwhelming (not Husky or Pomeranian).

Her favorite dog friend is a Shih Tzu so she is fine with small dogs, just not the fluffy ones.

Looking for owners that would take her for short daily walks and spend time loving on her. Someone who works from home is ideal as she is used to laying in her bed while I work all day and that would be an easy transition for her. But, she is also okay with being unattended all day if work is outside the home.

She needs someone who loves dogs and wants to spend time sharing space with her. She is getting up there in years so I would prefer that she not be surrounded by small children but she would be fine with kids who know to be gentle with her. She absolutely loves kids of all ages but can’t physically handle rough treatment at this age.

Ziva is such a loving dog and will make someone a perfect companion or family member.
