eko - shiba inu dog for adoption in philadelphia

Have you been hoping to find a Shiba Inu dog for adoption in Philadelphia (Elkins Park), PA? If so, the amazing Eko would love to be invited to become a first hand family member. This well behaved boy is 7 years young and weighs 30 pounds. He is as handsome and easy to care for as they come.

Eko is good with kids aged 8 and up (old enough to treat dogs with kindness and respect). Like most Shiba Inu dogs, Eko is not a fan of cats, and prefers his own company to that of other dogs.

Tragically, his Mom, a single woman, has been diagnosed with a serious and progressive health issue that will make it impossible to care for him as time passes, and she wants to find him the perfect home now, while she is still able.

If you have room in your heart and home for this beautiful soul, please offer Eko his forever home today. He and his owner look forward to hearing from you.

Meet Eko – Pre-Loved Shiba Inu dog For Adoption by Owner in Philadelphia (Elkins Park) Pennsylvania

5 Amazing Things About Eko:

  1. His tail. Not only does it give me the best indicator of his mood (curled up he’s happy, tail down he’s anxious or uncertain), but it’s just cute.
  2. He’s always happy to see me when I get home, whether I’ve been gone 10 minutes or all day.
  3. When he wants attention, he will come lean his forehead against my knee so I have easy access to “skritch” his ears.
  4. If I’m sitting down, he will slide himself under my bent leg so I can skritch his hears and the spot at the base of his tail, which makes him dance with his back legs.
  5. He is fairly quiet; he doesn’t bark just because the dog next door is barking.

Eko’s owners are very sad to have to rehome their cherished dog, but circumstances beyond their control have made rehoming a must-do.

They are hoping to find the right home where this deserving dog will be loved unconditionally and kept safe, happy, healthy and well-cared-for.

If you have room in your heart and home for Eko, then please offer a loving, forever home today. Eko can’t wait to show you the true meaning of unconditional love.

Eko’s Personality

Like most Shibas, Eko is intelligent & independent. He likes to be in the same room as his person/people but is not a lap dog. And sometimes he goes off into another room to be by himself. He is not a chewer; no interest in rawhides or chew toys but he does like his squeaky stuffies.

Shibas are catlike in both their cleanliness & in the fact that they will let you know when they want affection, and Eko is very typical in these qualities.

Eko’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Squeaky stuffies. Sometimes a tennis ball. He likes to play tug with you with his stuffies. He will not eat dry food. He currently gets The Farmers Dog & likes the turkey & the beef best. He will also eat Fresh Pet. He is food motivated when training; beef jerky, hot dogs, chicken & cheese all work well.

His favorite activity is going for walks. He is ok in the car, but he doesn’t love it like some dogs.

Why is Eko Being Rehomed?

I am divorced, live alone & have recently been diagnosed with a serious health condition that will negatively impact my ability to care for & afford to keep Eko. I want to place him in a good home now, while I have time to find the right one.

Eko’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

A settled single person or couple with no small children & no plans for small children in the next 10 years. Preferably a home owner, rather than a renter. A fenced yard would be ideal. Only pet in household.

No cats & no small children are absolute requirements.
